I love watching old films colorized, I think many people have an unconscious bias against old fighters because the films are in black and white. I believe Johnson could have taken Ketchel out very early , but wanted to punish him , like Ali and Ernie Terrell . I think he just got lazy and got nailed by Stanley a very good puncher, He certainly wasn't hurt that much since he got up and executed the Michigan Assassin .
I've always thought so ,and so does Klompton.GunBoat Smith a sparring partner for both before the fight said Johnson faked the KD to add value to the movie rights in which he had a percentage,same reason he held Ketchel up a couple of times,and didn't go all out early on, ,to increase the interest in the movies.
