After his gutsy but obvious loss to Carl Froch, Johnson needs a win here to stay above water (IMO). What if he knocks Bute out? Where would he go from here?

Depending on who wins the super six.

Froch wins - Froch fights Kessler to avenge defeat and add the WBO to the WBA/WBC. doesnt fight Johnson after beating him and moves up

Ward wins - Avoids Kessler claiming a "victory" already and fights johnson as a "welcome home" fight in oakland where hell likely get the hometown decision

Johnson has no chance. He can no longer KO guys and he sure as hell isn't going to win a decision.

It keeps Johnson's career as an upper tier fighter going and lands him another decent payday. Every champ is said to have one last good fight in him.

Bute is considered the unproven commodity at this time, so a loss by him would be much more costly.

Johnson is a one-dimensional fighter. He has no skill. I have not seen him beating anyone for years.

johnson doesnt belong at 168 at all so i hate this fight for him. The professional he is, he somehow makes the weight, but he should go back to 175

Who would pay to watch Ward outclass Kessler again? Waste of time.

Bute is the reason why Johnson lost to Dawson the 2nd time around (won the first one)
Bute is doing this as a friend of Johnson's. IE giving him a pay day. (that he does deserve)

Johnson will amazingly become a star. Even this late in his career. He's a blue collar worker, late bloomer, etc if promoted right he can be America's modern day Jimmy Braddock. But he does have a habit of pushing his more popular opponents to the limit, but for the most part coming up short. Against Bute, it wouldn't surprise me if Johnson won, but he'd have to push himself just alittle harder than usual. He can't match Bute for speed and power, but he's not too far behind and his pressure can wear down Bute. Even if Johnson beat Bute in the eyes of the fans, most likely a draw will be given out. This is the year of the upsets, by the way.

    Am i wrong?

If ward wins hes not going to fight Kessler, and will likely fight the winner of bute / johnson . . .

Which will likely to include him fighting in oakland suprise suprise
