Jack Johnson vs Joe Frazier. Year 1905, 20 rounds, rules and gloves of the time. Johnson is a master of defense, complete technique, flexible tactics, skilled in the clinch. Frazier has an obsessive and pounding rhythm, good head movement, courage and determination. Who wins and why?
Joe Frazier for me. Jack would be game and attempt s to smother Joe's shots, whilst banging his upper cuts in. But he'd find Js relentless thumping left catching him more frequently. I'd see Joe finally catching him and hurting him, stopping him around the 14 th.
It’s impossible for Johnson to beat Frazier just an awful match up for Jack. So much left, so much engine, so many punches. Maybe when the distances get very long you could find him winning with a low frequency but even then I’d make Frazier an overwhelming.
