Johnson vs. Jeanette DQ news read in the works

    Jeannette fought this fight out of a crouch it appears and this would have accenuated the height difference. Seems to have been a close, lively fight and people on both side saw what they wanted to see.

    This probably explains it. Pity the fight did not go the distance , it appears to have been shaping up as quite a scrap.

    Thanks, Mendoza, Matt Donnellon, for the new reports; and McVey for ringing up the Phil. Ledger report and for your ideas and questions.

    This is quite a bit to mull over; remarkable how diverse the reports are.

    This is the report I have. So McVey, as you see Johnson likely lost round one, and he did in fact go low in round two, firing off additional punches. The extra punches seem to be poor sportsmanship, as any fighter who ever laced on gloves and hits an opponents cup knows when he fouled!

    The other report Matt posted said Johnson went low un-purpose. The Boston report above said Jeanette was 25 pounds lighter, so essentially we are talking about Jeanette being at the super middle weight limit!

    According to Box Rec, Jeanette record leading up to this fight is 5 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws...yet despite little experience and giving up 25 pounds in weight he took it to Jack Johnson. Amazing stuff, eh?

    I'll see if I can find the report posted by Ksmith a while back which not only says Johnson deliberately fouled, but Jeanette had him in some trouble in round one!

    One report says Johnson took the first round ,and , doesn't say it saw the foul.
    Another says Johnson was unaware of the foul.
    Do you really believe Jeannette was around 160lbs for this fight?
    The Boston Globe also said Jeannette was 6 inches shorter than Johnson ,which would make him 5 foot six ,and a quarter inches.:patsch
    I think I'll go with the Philly paper.:rofl

    Giving up 250lbs in weight ? Johnson sure must have been out of shape!
    Two fights after this, Jeannette stopped 46 fights Sam Langford, in 8 rds.
    He took it to Johnson? The fight did not even last 2 rds.
    A week later Johnson floored him 4 times in 6rds, to take an easy decision.GET REAL.
    And for ****'s sake don't keep saying " unpurpose" , you illiterate ******.
    It's " on purpose" ,or at least it would be, if it was proven.

    You cried foul asking for a report where Johnson lost the first round, and went low. Mission accomplished.

    No. I have no problem accepting Johnson hit low.My problem is your contention that it was deliberate.
    And conflicting reports about who was winning do not give any susbstantiation to your statement.
