Given this is now signed and sealed for the fifteenth of January, what do we thinks gonna happen. It's obviously gonna be a war, between two heavy, heavy punches. If Johnson doesn't perform better than he has done last couple times out, he's getting knocked out here. But he has every tool needed to stop Smith IMO.
Pick em fight. Smith hasnt been looking that good either, hes pretty basic but can hit like a mule. Johnson is tough, and brings a wide array of skills that i think will benefit him especially early on. But hes a guy who doesnt shy away from a good fight. it comes down to who can take the better punch imo and to me i think its Smith. Im going with Smith by late TKO.
Johnson is a bit more talented and has more boxing ability than Joe Smith, but hasn't really used his boxing skills for a while and has been content with just bulldozing his opponents. Both can punch and it will be a sure fire-fight. I'm going with Smith on KO, better punch resistance and the more experienced of the two.
I'll be very surprised if it goes the distance both of them can punch like mules and throw bombs aplenty. Johnson is the better boxer and more skilled and if he opts to should be able to outbox him for long spells but Smith is tougher and he's either hurt, dropped, stopped or KO'd everyone he's fought since moving up to the world level if not even longer. They can both take out anyone at 175 if they catch them right so it could come down to who lands first. But Smith has been a lot more active and with the exception of Beterbiev mixed at a much higher level so you'd have to edge towards him.
i dont rate johnson that highly. yes, he dropped beterbiev....but it kinda reminds of when oscar de la hoya was dropped by giorgio campanella. campanella made his career of this fact....but never actually beat anyone. same can be said of johnson who is basically a can crusher. his best wins are over sean monaghan and frank burglioni......and he has been a pro for amlost 12 years!! smith jr is certainly the weakest champ at light heavyweight, but his wins are on a totally different level. he is the real deal, no question. and the fact that johnson looked faded in his last fight, a fight he could have lost imo vs some unkown. i pick smith jr by ko.
