It's almost painful watching fighters from that time period. Those two schmucks were no better than bar room brawlers. Equivalents of today's "Tough Man" exhibitions.
Lol, what are you talking about. The two first punches thrown in the fight is a 1-2 from Burns. :rofl I'm still in Round 1 and I've seen quite a few flurries. Your credibility is eroding in my eyes man.
Really? Boxers didn't know that they could throw two or three punches at a time? I'm assuming you're being sarcastic....
A number of Burns bouts were filmed. He was impressive in the ring. Good footwork, balance, jab and combination punching. Burns is one of the most underrated of past hwt champions.
Shoving both hands out in front and following with a hook is not excactly a 6 2 4 combo. If you are counting that trash, so be it. Burns was a trap setter right hand heavy guy, who had tons of ***** and a lot of guile but was a fighter who rarely had a second and never a third of fourth punch in his attack. Seriously, brah.
Not only did Burns not know how to throw combos, he also shoved his hands instead of throwing them! :rofl im dying
But for real, it's the camera quality. A pixelated Joe Louis looks like he's just shoving his hands too.
Count the combos Burns throws in this fight versus even what a homerun slugger like Marciano throws. You are the one losing credibility by sustaining this idea that a 170 pound trapshooter like Burns qualifies as comparison to Frazier and Marciano.
Did you see Klitschkos last bout? I wonder who threw more combos, him or Burns. :rofl Burns is definitely an ATG.
Klit enjoyed the physical advantage of 70 pounds over Tommy. That's a huge trump card. All he had to do was keep range and use that physical advantage. Conversely, imagine Mike Tyson trying to one-punch the guys who were so much bigger than him in his day. Actually, you don't have to imagine because when he was shot he was reduced to exactly that. Do you see the difference?
You're saying combos = winning. A. Not true B. Tommy was throwing combos. And he was winning. Your argument is flimsy, and it's built off this unrealistic bias you have.
It's a lot easier to make it look like play time when you outweigh your opponent by 20-30lbs or they haven't had a fight for six years...
