I don't think Johnson is a step up from Adamek. He is very good and tough, but he has never been an elite level fighter (Adamek wasn't either, but he was a solid B just like Johnson).
Average foot speed?? I'm afraid i do disagree with you here...While Dawson sets the bar Diaconu is still above average..Distance and timing isn't that difficult to judge it's also something thats easy to see for Diaconu this is attributed to over 300 amateur fights, aside from this his size necessitates good movement and balance..I would also say he has above average defense..its a no-brainer when he himself is not punching the hands are always up and he does block plenty..very textbook:good
He may be more skilled than Adamek, just like MAB was more skilled than Pacquiao. But he is not a better fighter than Adamek at this point in time. Johnson certainly isn't tops in his weight class....he is a solid solid fighter, but how would you rate him A class? If he is A class, the how do you rate Dawson, Woods, Hopkins, etc?
Just nitpicking here. But there was one fight that Johnson wasn't competitive in, and that was when Bernard Hopkins ****ing thrashed him. I don't know if many of you have seen this fight because it happened years ago. Otherwise, I agree with what you've said. Johnson is no soft touch for anyone, and I believe that he's going to bother Dawson by being the aggressive pit bull he usually is.
I've seen it and your correct Johnson did get thrashed...however Johnson was also very GREEN..Dare I mention the fight was over 10 years ago??if the fight happened today I'd bet the farm on Johnson:good
IMO no, neither Johnson nor Woods would have much of a chance against Dawson or Hopkins. Hopkins has already dominated Johnson before. That was years ago, but not much has changed. I think they would both be competitive, but I don't feel either has more than a 20% shot at either fighter.
Johnson wasn't green when he lost to Tarver, or Gonzalez or Woods. You would bet the farm on Johnson over Hopkins right now?
Yes, I'll agree that he was green back then. I think Hopkins v. Glen Johnson would be a great fight if it happened today, much more competitive than the first. But I wouldn't bet the farm on Glen because, hell, it's not really safe to bet the farm on anyone. Unless it's a Tyson-Douglas type mismatch where the outcome is a sure thing. :yep
Don't compare Diaconu to Povetkin. One is an olympic gold medalist who was sensational in the amateurs while the other had a ton of amateur fights, but wasn't anything special. Povetkin turned pro 4 years after Diaconu and has had half as many fights as him, but he has proven and shown a lot more. Also, in a P4P comparison, Povetkin destroys him. My credibility? I have stated nothing but facts about Diaconu and same goes for Dawson. You obviously like to hype Diaconu and you have a bias towards him. And yes, he isn't the big puncher you make him out to be. Kg0208 already said enough to you so I don't have anything to add.
Easy pick for me..Johnson's got a new wind and has recently fought LHWs not one light middleweight...It all is irrelevant as Joe is going to beat Hopkins in April..again Hopkins calling out somone lighter atsch ****ing disgrace
No, but he brings things to the fight that have beaten Johnson before. We are on entirely different pages here. I would be surprised to see Johnson win more four rounds against Dawson.
Who Hopkins calls out isn't relevant to me, and Calzaghe is not smaller than Hopkins. He could have moved to LHW at any time. Yes, Johnson has recently fought LHW's. Two journeyman, and a very old Montell Griffin who hasn't been the same fighter in years.
It's funny how all these Calzaghe fans are coming out and talking **** about Dawson, i think you all know Dawson is the one guy out there who can beat him. I like both guys but Dawson is a bit too athletic for Calzaghe to apply his skills against if they did fight, i don't think they ever will though. Dawson v Johnson? It is a mismatch, Johnson has slipped abit in his last couple of fights. From the outside Chad can't be touched due to his reach, hand and foot speed, on the inside Johnson would be getting shown things he hasn't seen before, double right hooks to the body finished with right uppercuts, thrown with the excellent leverage that Dawson throws with.
