Fairly new to the game. I have about 1 year of experience with boxing, and have only trained in 1 gym so far. I'm about to join a different gym since I have recently moved but some things have come up ever since i started browsing the forums. First off the way I was trained was the philly shell style (similar to mayweather jr) Would it be better to continue to train this way even though it seems less and less people train using this style? And secondly whenever I spared at my previous gym my coach always wanted us to go as hard as we could at our opponent, and he said that he will tell us to tone it down if it needed to be but never did. It seems like after browsing these forums sparring really isn't intended to KO the opponent. I'm afraid that when I join this other gym that I'll just have a natural reaction to throw hard since I never really held back any of my punches from before and be stuck w/out anyone to spar against. I'm a pretty big dude too at 6' 225lb if it makes a difference. Thanks
