Maria Lindberg vs. Inna Sagaydakovskaya, 10x2" rounds @ light middleweight

 

The unbeaten Russian gal just made her pro debut last year and is already vying for a Silver title. Big step up for her with the 40-year-old two-time world champion, whose only career losses both came to Christina Hammer, both stepping outside her comfort zone and moving up to challenge for Hammer's middleweight titles.

 

Lindberg is giving up age and height here, but I think she should outclass the newcomer. Too much experience.

 

Sagaydakovskaya has a loyal & vocal following here, and I note that she has fought twice previously in Bilbao. Maybe family roots in the area?

 

Sagaydakovskaya has the blonde ponytails, Lindberg with the blue cornrows.

 

Lots of clinching and ugly, accidentally parried flurrying inside. Just lots of stray punches bouncing off each other. This isn't very tidy after the previous match even though this is for something just short of a world title and that was an 8-rounder featuring guys that will probably never get even a continental belt.

10-9 Lindberg, landed one really nice right hand in an exchange that bashed Sagaydakovskaya on the cheek and made her wince.

 

Sagaydakovskaya trying to establish a rhythm jabbing outside. Lindberg doesn't let her, pressuring in with her shoulders rounded, pushing jabs up into Sagaydakovskaya's face, tying up and rough-housing. Lindberg pounds Sagaydakovskaya into the ropes with a straight combo and Sagaydakovskaya sinks into a crouch and ties up. Lindberg is hammering down with right hands over the top. Sagaydakovskaya is cut badly by the left side of her hairline. Probably can't continue, very deep and flowing actively. Probably going to cards. Think it was a cut from a punch. Nope. Time in just before the round was going to be over anyway. Ref takes a point from Lindberg for something.

Sagaydakovskaya is a bloody mess but they are still letting this go on, four down.

 

Oh wow Lindberg actually getting in some beautiful right hands per the slow motion replays. Absolutely savaging this girl.

 

We're in the 6th, Inna is quite brave. Catching the old Swede with some nice uppercuts too. Still mostly one-way traffic for Lindberg, though.
