How many times does this ridiculous crap need to be posted? It's not a video game, and boxers don't have instant death touch knockout power just because they box. If he hasn't trained for years in it a high level wrestler will duck way lower than he can punch and take him down with to problem at all. Just because you have no clue about grappling doesn't mean it's easy.

Jones has no hope of being competitive in a boxing match, but he would LITERALLY beat PBF in an MMA fight or street fight with one arm. Seriously, great wrestlers can take good wrestlers down with one arm in some situations, and this is nowhere near that close.

You didnt answer how FGedor is going to put 4 attackers in an ankle lock at the same time, have his ref there to register the tap, and move on. OR, would you think he would 'strike' the first 2 or 3, try and knock them out quick, and maybe have fun with the last guy, assuming everyone else is out cold.

This is a ridiculous argument. You're assuming for some reason that a better boxer will be able to beat up four guys at once? Why? It doesn't much matter what you're offensive skills are when it's you against four guys all that matters is your track and field abilities.

Also, you don't really think that the ultimate point of submission holds is for a ref to stop the fight do you? If guys don't tap to angle locks, they get their ankles/tendons ****ed up. If they don't tap to an arm bar, they get their arms broken. If they don't tap to a choke, their out as cold as if Tyson sucker punched them.

It's obviously not a ****ing video game, but a punch from an ATG boxer has serious stopping power. If it doesn't knock him out, it at the very least stops him in his tracks and opens up opportunities for a swift offensive follow up or defensive escape.

I've dabbled in grappling, as I said before, a boxer is at a serious disadvantage against a wrestler, but it doesn't mean a boxer doesn't have a chance at evading and changing the angle and landing a counter that marks the beginning of the end.

They say boxing fans are the insecure ones in the MMA-Boxing debate, yet it seems very often so man MMA fans can't tolerate the idea of a boxer having even a puncher's chance against a squared up opponent.

Escape is not always an option. Being able to stay on your feet is a huge advantage in those types of situations.

No, but a good boxer may be able to land a quick 1-2 on the closest guy and step into the next and do the same. If theyre not experienced fighters, which they probably arent, just getting punched in the face like that by a trained fighter would be enough to probably make each pass out from shock. Now he can face the other two with the advantage of fear on his side at least, if nothing else. Would this happen everytime? No, but I can bet the guy that boxes those first two instead of wrapping one up and taking him to the ground, has a better chance of surviving. Sometimes you simply can't run away.

EXACTLY! What dya think would have happened if he had decided to take the first guy down and try and break his arm? Would the others have watched, or jumped on his skull? LOL

There's no way around the fact that if you're getting attacked by multiple people, you should avoid getting stuck on one spot either on your feet or on the ground. That said, if you're going to assume that the two or three guys attacking you are completely untrained goons like that old vid then absolutely any amateur mma fighter will do exactly what that guy did. A lot of the advanced stuff that professional boxers use is stuff that is needed to combat other really skilled fighters and isn't necessary at all for fighting untrained goons who don't know how to punch or move their heads. The reason why it behooves you to be trained in more techniques instead of less is that if the guy is bigger than you and gets a hold of you, you can do a hell of a lot more to defend yourself than if you've only practiced punches or kicks from your feet. As for "it only takes a few punches from a pro and it's over!", that's just not how it works in real life. If the majority of your experience witnessing street fights is from watching youtube and stupid movies, you'll think that most fights end with one punch, but that's just not how it is. What pro boxers do better than mma fighters is being able to throw multiple punches accurately with good movement and balance, not that they can hit harder with a single punch. If the plan is that you won't ever need to grapple because you'll just KO the guy if you touch him, you're living in a fantasy world.
