Very good news. His 2 conquerors Reyes and Silva can now fight each other and decide who the real champ is.
Yep! The division will open up now if anything. Jones held it up for years with his out of the ring behavior and inactivity. LHW overall is a much better division than HW. It's going to be interesting to see who comes out on top of it all. I doubt we'll see a dominant champ for a while. Very likely to entice a lot of movement from MW and HW as well as a lot of guys will fancy their chances in the wide open landscape.
Jones is desperately trying to cash out now. He knows he only has a few fights left and that's why he's been trying to strongarm Dana into getting a lucrative deal for a few heavyweight fights. Honestly, steroid issues aside, he shouldn't have abused his body so much with partying, poor diet, only training when he had fights scheduled, etc. Just poor lifestyle choices all around. I think people underestimated how those mundane choices can either add or take off years of your career, even if you're a freak athlete like Jones. I know he took a lot of damage in that first fight with Gus, and took some good shots in his second fight with DC. Also, the broken toe against Sonnen and the possibly dislocation against Belfort. I know he's had a lot of fights and he's definitely had some wear and tear in his career but he hasn't had so much that he should have regressed at this rate so quickly. I know some people will point to being off the roids, but I think lifestyle is just as big of a factor. Still, I kind of hope Dana caves and we get to see Jones test himself as heavyweight. I see Stipe beating the breaks off him, but Ngannou is an intriguing fight. Can Jones use his kicks to maintain distance and slowly chip away at him, and then take him down to get a late stoppage? Or will Ngannou's strength, size and punching power just be too much for him?
Jon Jones saw what I saw in Rakic and Prochazka. Awkward tall 6'4+ talented light heavyweights who are younger than he is with a lot of motivation to knock his block off. He dodged a bullet against Reyes and Santos even and knew that he probably wouldn't be so lucky against one of those two. He's a huge liability now even more so due to the fact that he's ripe for the taking. The UFC wasted a lot of time and resources dealing with this dude's BS when he was actually elite. They are the slippage and aren't going to cave in to his desperate demands.
Jon Jones has looked ordinary since USADA came into the ufc with higher level ped's testing. Popped multiple times with BS excuses and can't stop journeyman middleweights. Now won't fight at all unless the ufc break the bank for him. Just watch he will now fight at heavy have 1 or 2 fights, pop for roids AGAIN and that will be the end of him.
