Harsh ban for cocaine use.

That doesn't bode well for Fury then... after nandrolone, cocaine, refusing test, with this guy's ban taken in mind.

 

3 years is excessive for having a line fkin el.

 

Well that's prob the last we hear of Fury then. It's funny how recreational drugs seem to be punished more harshly than PEDs. It doesn't seem to make any sense.

 

jon stayed with me in my home for a fight and was a joy to be around, he's a good lad who on his own admission had issues, talented boxer who if he gave time to others could be a good coach has he's a natural talent with a very good boxing brain

Exactly my thoughts. Just goes to show how it is all one big farce.

 

I'm going to sound like I'm contradicting myself, I do take the attitude of zero tolerance on testing positive for a banned substances because PED's needs to be stamped out and fighters dealt with severely.

But for this sort of positive test, recreational drugs, I think because this isn't a PED and he is actually damaging himself then maybe an immediate ban until he starts mandatory counselling or rehab and a probationary period after with regular testing is enough.

The stop somebody earning a living for 3 years for a drug problem is harsh in my opinion, it could lead to desperation which could lead to depression and a more serious drug problem, I think this is short term thinking and making an example of somebody and British boxing should take care of fighters a little better when problems like these arise.

 

I don't think it's contradictory at all mate. One helps your harm another whilst the other only harms yourself, well physically at least.

 

Cocaine is considered performance enhancing in competition.

 

How can anyone feel sorry for a boxer who goes into a ring against another boxer high on drugs when there are peoples lives at risk in doing so, even their own!

Be it feeling invincible or not feeling any pain cos your head is F'd, it just wrong..... simple.

3 yrs will put out a warning to others who do it still. BBBofC should do drug tests at every show for every fight mandatory!

It's obviously not helpful to ban the man from earning some money legitimately in a boxing ring, considering his circumstances.
I'm not saying he should be allowed back in the ring willy-nilly, but the sport should also provide some sort of avenue and hope for a man who might want cleaning up his act.
