Jonathan Victor Barros vs. Celestino Caballero II & Hugo Garay vs. Cesar Crenz RBR

Round 5

Caballero floats out his jab, just waving it in Barros face and clearly seeking a chance to throw a rainbow right. (which he has half cocked, brazenly giving away his intentions) Barros is ducking a little and jabbing the body. They tie up and flare their arms at each other up close, getting quickly broken up once they even start to tangle. Jabs to the face are flicked up by Barros as he turns his body aside and just walks into Caballero's chest. NICE triple jab to the face, made Caballero turn his head to get away. WHIPPING overhand right by Caballero!! Barros is getting in there, blocking the clubbing overhand rights of Caballero on his gloves and wailing away with his own short punches, but using a lot of elbow!! Caballero just keeps clubbing hard!! Barros is on the corner getting whipped with overhands that are only partially caught on the gloves. Now Barros turns the tables and drives Caballero back across the ring!! Nice looping short right hands by Barros! They lean together and trade short punches. Caballero leans back and lines up a long right hand!!!

A little sloppy (although nowhere near as bad as any of the rounds in their first meeting)...but maybe Round of October so far? :think

 

Round 6

Barros pushes his jab out almost timidly and gets easily intercepted and hugged by the spidery limbs of Caballero. Vicious hooks to the body by Barros, but Caballero is able to step out of the pocket and avoid the brunt of them. Low jabs to the belly by Barros, and Caballero tries to whip long uppercuts at him in return but just brushes his hip. Barros is standing right in front of Caballero, who has his right arm turned parallel to his chest and glove held up at his cheek with knuckles pointing skyward. Caballero looks like he's almost daring Barros to come and get him. Barros doesn't take the dare, or at least doesn't hurry to. Barros darts in and out, never getting quite in range. Caballero tries to pick him off with jabs. Barros is moving in circles as well as in and out, constantly picking up and dropping his feet. Uppercut by Caballero, and simultaneous left hook by Barros! They come together in a clinch and Caballero spanks him with some reach-around slapping kidney shots. Barros complains and is given a moment to recover. The round ends shortly thereafter.

Round 7

Caballero moves in erratic patterns, a single step forward and then leaping off to his left. Caballero jabs from the outside. Caballero keeps moving vaguely to his left but never in a predictable arc (or anything even slightly geometrical). Caballero is really getting in some good licks, whipping Barros with long jabs and uppers. Now Barros comes back on!!! Overhand rights!! Swatting left hooks thrown up and over! Caballero is pushed back to the ropes! Jab to the body by Barros! Caballero drops his perpendicular guard to protect against body shots as Barros keeps pressing in. Long jab by Caballero is blocked but he follows with a long thudding uppercut to the ribs. Caballero shoeshines and Barros bangs back with hard body shots. Clinch, and Barros is in a headlock. Barros slips a jab while backing Caballero up from several feet away. Barros tries to jab his way in low, but Caballero threatens with the feint of his own jab. Caballero lands a jab but misses the follow-up right as Barros ducks inside. They watch each other through narrowed eyelids for the final twenty seconds or so.

Round 8

Barros is ripping away with hard overhand rights and rowboat-oar left hooks. Barros is really going for it! Caballero puts out his jab to hold him off and keeps moving out of range but Barros is really gunning hard and making Caballero hustle to stay clear. Caballero has his hands rolling around, trying to anticipate Barros' attacks and formulate his defensive strategies a step ahead. Barros gives him no quarter and allows no time to think strategically, just hammering through with right hands!! Caballero is caught flush on the nose!! Barros lands more rights coming forward!! Caballero pitches back into the ropes, taking a right hand! Long jab and uppercut by Caballero misses as he decides to stop backing up and hold his ground. Barros steps into a clinch. Barros comes forward after the break, jabbing and missing. Caballero misses his jab too. Caballero circles, almost running now.

The Boxeo De Primera unofficial scorer gave the 8th round 10-10, and they have Caballero up 79-74. :blood I think they also had Caballero up the first time they met. So clearly there isn't any nationalistic bias at TYC Sports. :conf

 

Round 9

Hard left and right uppercuts by Caballero while trying to back into range and away from Barros' wild overhand rights. Clinch. Break. Uppercuts traded. Clinch. Break. Caballero gets out behind his jab. Barros tries to duck forward and smash through with rights to the body. Long almost back-handed slap-jabs from the hip by Caballero. Very frequent clinches. Barros tries to triple jab his way in but is just churning oxygen. Caballero lands a good short counter right hand!! Barros holds!! Caballero lands a soft left hook and right hand, just arm punches but scoring on a tired-looking Barros who's trying to lean in and hold.
