    Are you serious?

Whatever Roy "said", the interviews I saw suggested that he understood losing was a possibility. At the very least, he knew his body couldn't perform the way his mind wanted it to.

I think Bernard looked at how unorthodox and straight up disorganized Joe could look, and assumed he could impose himself the way he usually does. It turned out that Joe's boxign IQ more or less matched his own, and that Joe was the better conditioned, fresher fighter that night.

Bernard didn't leave much doubt with his "white boy" comment what he thought of white/ European fighters. Was it an ignorant statement? Yes. Is it understandable that someone with Bernard's history would think something like this? Yes. Should he have shared this thought with the general public? No.

That probably goes for Hopkins, but I don't think it goes for RJJ.

both jones and hopkins have spent 20 + years perfecting there craft and theres prolly not alot of things these two havent seen in the ring. i think both are way too intelligent to think this. nard was all about promotion and gettin under his skin when he made the white boy statement.

I agree totally! but i still think Hopkins took it a little to far with that statement, imagine if it was Calzaghe who said something like that!

I know sometimes the mouth run a little faster than the brain, when fighters try to bash each other! it can happend to all, but he should have admitted that after! it doesn`t put Hopkins in a good light to make any european fans that way!

If the Same Hops that fought Pav shoed up that night things might have been different.

I'm not saying JC didn't have anything to do with it either but Hops looked like he was 30 against Pavlik stamina wise.

Im not sure he was taking him lightly or just being BHOP.

Agree the Bhop was being the ***** he really is
and that Jones took JC serious but WANTED to win. Hence he fought all 12 rounds trying to win unlike Hopkins.

I still want Hopkins and Jones to fight.

its not hard to understand why though is it. Hopkins probably took one look at joe calzaghe saw the flaws and thought he could exploit them he did to an extent but his gas tank let him down. I think they definitely underestimated the will and heart of joe

Jones after Clinton Woods fights said on BBC Joe was a good fighter...

jones valuation of JOE went up after the Lacy fight...

He said Joe went of the Radar after the Eubank fight....WHICH he did!!!

joe decided to milk his title.

Hopkins and Jones aren't stupid to think that way, those are legends in the ring and if they decided to fight him then they did so because they knew he's special and a win over him would be amazing.

This comment always reminded me of Minter's comment before he fought Hagler. I know its out there, but it kind of makes me think of Hopkins havin a private joke by saying the same.

Mainly though, he just said that to create hype about the fight. Theres no way thats how he felt, he's just one of the best in the business at seeing it as a business.
