The betting odds are now out and Jones is 9/1 to TKO Calzaghe, Im very tempted to put £100 on this. What every ones else's thoughts?
Don't waste your money. Jones couldn't KO Fat inactive Trinidad, Anthony Hanshaw or Prince of the cans. He ain't knocking out the sold chinned Calzaghe.
I can't see that happening. Calzaghe seemed rocked a couple of times by Hopkins but got up to win. His chin has been very sturdy throughout his career and Jones last time out could not finish an inactive Trinidad fighting above his natural weight. Save your money, kid!
i have no doubt jones will win, but i'm not sure how, he could fight however he wants, he could go out and Knock him out cold, he could break him down and finish him late, or he could put on a masterclass of a performance and box him. but mark my words, roy jones jr will WIN.
all you boxing fans know that calzaghe's legacy has been built on avoiding every real fight, he ducked hopkins and roy jones for 5 years. and now that they are way past there primes he thinks he can just come and walk over them to prove that he is the best fighter of this generation, but it aint going to work. Hopkins clearly beat him, roy jones still has some of that natural talent, and he will just laugh at them slaps and give him one hell of a beating. and maybe he can fool future generations with his record but boxing fans of this generation know that he is a fraud.
time for this again.... "A teleconference was set up in my office in New York for July 30th, 2002, and on the call was myself, Don King who was in the room, Frank Warren and Bernard Hopkins' lawyer, Arnold Joseph. Along with Arnold was a woman named Linda Carter, who was there on behalf of Bernard. We asked Arnold if Bernard wanted to fight Joe Calzaghe and we asked him how much money would he want if he did. The response we got was $3million and the fight would have to take place in the United States. After a little scratching of the head, we said 'Okay, done.' Frank Warren agreed on the spot, Don King agreed and we agreed so as far as we were concerned all parties were singing off the one hymn sheet. Arnold excused himself with Linda and I can only assume it was to call Bernard. Either that day or the next day, they came with a new demand: $6million, double the sum that had been agreed, the deal blew up.....he had then and still has no desire to fight Joe Calzaghe, that much is pretty clear. Joe gets criticised sometimes for not having fought the big-name Americans, but in this case the fault has never rested with him." - Jay Larkin.
:good Listen to this guy & dont waste 100 pds, stick 10 pds maximum but dont hold your breath. Ps. I put 350 pds on JC to beat Hopkins & I nearly **** my pants when Hop floored him so its not wise to put a load that you are likely to miss on a fight between 2 greats. I think JC will win a UD or stop RJJ late on but you never know in boxing.
Let me get this right. If Calzaghe beats Jones, you wont turn around & say RJJ was completely shot ? Excellent, I`ll send you a PM shortly after Joe wins. :thumbsup
Jones is done. He is not what he used to be. He cant even fight 3 minutes a round, thats where Calzaghe got him.
Kid you have got it all wrong, don king agreed in principle to 3 mil, he went to hopkins and hopkins wanted more, which he was entitled to, he had just beaten the undefeated 40-0 Felix Trinidad, but it was called off because calzaghe said he didn't want to fight in america, so get your facts right kid. Calzaghe told warren that get the fight in Britain or it aint happening.
I said Hopkins would beat calzaghe which he did, clearly outboxed that *****, and then calzaghe turn to sly tactics and low blows. its funny how you british fans were so far up cortez is ass after that fight.
