    Joke fight.

Jones is shot as said by Calzaghe, what a pointless fight. Should have happened years ago or not at all.

The hype will be vast though, because people will convince themselves that Jones actually has a chance.

Everybody has a chance in boxing but I feel not a very good chance if you are RJJ, JC will be a big fav in this 1.

It should have happened before RJJ fought Ruiz, when Roy was regarded as the No1 guy, I truly feel JC had a solid chance stylewise to beat a prime Jones although the USAbians will tell you thats bull**** because Joe isnt American.

Roy still carries that power but JC has always had an iron chin so I see a UD or late rds TKO in Calzaghe`s favour... fingers crossed anyway, c`mon Joe.

Lets not talk about what could have beens. Joe now, if he wants, has the chance to fight a p4p prime top ten man. Once again... it's another what could have been.... to add to the list of what could have beens...

Even Calzaghe himself is on record saying the Jones fight is not worth taking.sic

shite fight. Calzaghe was writing off Jones as shot and not worth it 2 years ago, now Jones is a 4 weight world champ and one of the best ever.
It reminds me a lot of Hatton dressing up all his bull**** opponents, as something real boxing fans know they are not.
The revisionism of Hatton fans also sees them now claim everyone had Tszyu in the top 3 p4p before that fight :patsch  , pathetic.

Where was Tszyu ranmked then? And let's not have your opinion, lets have some semblance of fact, seeing as you know everyone else to be wrong.

The Ring ratings mightn't be bad start (I genuinely don't know where he was ranked at the time by them).

Having said all that who cares about these semantics, he was clearly the man at 140, a modern great at the weight. If you dispute that, you are not worth arguing with.

If you don't dispute that, then I don't know what your point is really.

You've got a really weird obsession with Hatton... This thread has nothing to do with him but you still manage to have a pop.... Your not a jilted lover are you?

I agree Terry.... Pavlik represents a real threat and Jones is so shot its untrue. Personally thats the final nail in the coffin for my support of Calzaghe I hope Jones spanks him- he's no better then the bullies he encountered at school on this basis.

That's what I thought. Until I see an official announcement from Joe himself I'm not convinced this is happening on September 20th.

Unless he's been in secret training for a couple of weeks it seems too soon for me. Plus it's not much preparation for the fans that were planning to make a second trip to vegas in less than 6 months.

If this is true I would be surprised if more than half the amount of UK fans that went to the Hopkins fight make it for this one.

Interesting terminology. Calzaghe absolutely anihalated Lacey and won a hard fought contest against Kessler to unify yet you give hime zero credit and infact put it down entirely to Lacey and Kessler's 'willingness to fight'.

Both guys thought they would take Calzaghe out, they didn't come to Britian to hand their belts over.

I agree the Jones fight is a waste of time and JC should fight Pavlik, the fact JC has not had the calibre of career he potentially could have is also an indisputable fact. The Jones fight could be interesting though, Jones has slowed down but is no slouch.
