Arche moore fought at 195+ the later part of his career but I doubt that was the case against Ezzard Charles and Marciano , he more the likely weighed in at 185

so did jones , not only that Moore was nolonger champion at 175 after he broke the 195 weight barrier and Moore never did capture a version of the Heavy weight title.

There was no 'version' of the HW title. It was THE heavyweight title. Archie Moore fought Rocky Marciano AND Ali whereas Jones beat the great John Ruiz.

I think his point is more that Moore was able to fight as high as 195 and could still fight at 175 no problem where as RJJ with all forms of modern medicine somehow with months of preparation could not make 175 healthily and that it has become his fans excuse as to why he lost.

    Im inclined to agree.

    What do titles mean?

Ezzard Charles is considered the greatest Lightheavyweight in history and he never even held the Lightheavyweight title.

    :good

That excuse is a weak one. Roy was a little older, lost a bit of speed and got caught by another older fighter.

    Simple as.

Yeah, Bo Bo.. black font against a black background.... but based on the thread title alone, I'm sure you've reinvented the wheel.

There have been plenty of examples of the effects of losing muscle mass. Christ, Chris Byrd took a punch from Ike Ibeabuchi that by rights should have killed him, but when he dropped down to LHW, he could've been knocked out his grandmother. Tarver was quite obviously weight drained as well. I'm not saying Roy's age didn't play into things, but to disregard the weight loss is just plain ignorant.

and my point is during the time span when he was lt Heavy weight champ fighting for the heavy title he never weighed over 188 lb and the fact that the fought so often back then fluctuation of ten pound was not that big a deal . I doubt back then as busy as Moore was in the gym and fights that I doubt he could have even put on 25 lb let alone lose.

It was just a very different time back then , so you can't compare gaining and losing weight back then to todays standards.

thats nice but were not talking about Ezzard Charles where talking about moore and Jones , and how moore was able to compete at heavy wight then get back down to heavy weight with out being drained.

Moore would knock Roy Jones out cold.
