I agree with the statement except that B-Hop is right and Jones really is done.

In 02 Jones was the Far far bigger draw, bigger name, was way more established and had already beat Hopkins with 1 hand. 40% was more than fair. He took far less to fight ODLH, Tito and others BUT when RJJ who usaully like ODLH takes 75 % of the purse offered him 40% Hopkins priced himself out like a *****.

their names alone will probably get them money. some casual fans will be interested, and those are the fans that generate the most money.

I don't think Hopkins really wanted to fight Roy back then. Imagine what beating Roy back then would have done for his legacy. He said he could have beat him, taking the 40% would have made him more money than his next few fights combined, also he would have totally cemented his legacy if he could have won, Prime Trinidad, then moving up to take a near Prime Jones, Hopkins had everything to gain, but turned it down.

He said 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser. Thats what he meant. He told B-hop if he was so sure of winning than why wouldn't he just say yes.

The interview where they talk about it

Like I said earlier he took far smaller % of money to make it work with everyone else but Jones offers him a generous 40% when Hopkins was just starting to get noticed and he turns it down.

    Exactly.

Roy would have kicked Hopkins' ass again back then.... He wasn't the corpse Hopkins is about to fight. Hopkins knows this I think.

i genuinely think jones will beat hopkins in this fight.

i also think you could bring calzaghe out of retirement and he would beat them both on the same night with one arm tied behind his back, with joe cortez refereeing.
