I think you nailed it here... I believe Roy even warned Tito about fighting Hopkins before the fight.

So in Roy's eyes, Hopkins ruined his biggest payday. Which may be part of the reason Roy stuck to wanting 60%. It would still be much less money than fighting Tito would have been.

Never though of it like that. Personally I blame both for the fight not happening.

Hopkins knew it was a tough fight and had easier options for greater financial reward and thought Jones had few options left, but then Jones pulled a spinx and jumped up to heavy and became a genuine superstar.

Jones like any other fighter would feel aggrieved that a fighter he had already beaten who wanted to challenge for his titles would want purse parity.

I blame both as well.... Ultimately I wish Jones would have just taken the 50-50 and gave the world a great fight.

At the same time I wish Hopkins would have taken 60-40. A win would have been huge for his legacy, being as Roy was still thought of as unstoppable at that time, and Roy already held a victory over Hopkins.

I do blame Hopkins more than I do Jones, I just wish we got to see the fight back then... It would have been a very relevant fight, unlike the fight in April.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Pavlik would beat him but you're right what Toney did to Ruiz didn't make Jones win look as great as it was.

Roy is absolutely right about his statement. Bernard didn't want any until Roy became shot. Prime for prime Roy still beats Bernard.

    Whahaha
This was seriously one of the funniest things I've came across all week.
I'm glad they can stay so happy knowing this fight is a carreer changer for both them.

Funny btw how they've bought already thought up a future for the other one if to retire, but not for themselve's ;p.
