Thought i'd post this again, just if anybody missed it. I wrote it out myself because a lot of it is hard to understand in the video and it's funny as hell. Larry: Roy let's talk about a reasonable catch weight, uh he uh Bernard weighed 158 for this fight, he's averaged around 158 for his last 4 or 5 fights. You weighed 172, you average around 173 for your last 4 or 5 fights. Can you cut the difference in half you move down around 7 pounds he moves up around 7 or do you demand some other kind of catch weight? Roy: You know what, right now you know it's like I gotta guy in front of me dat I aint lookin' past dats 6 pounds heavier den me right now. I'm really too big for Bernard Hopkins. I beat Bernard Hopkins before with one hand. I mean you know whatever I can do dats feasible with a weight I can make i'll fight at. Jones was the much bigger name. Jones had a win against him. 60/40 is fair. How is it not fair? Hopkins thinks beating Tito made him deserve 50/50. Thats bull. He had one big win. Jones was a established star a while back before Hopkins/Tito
Jones didn't have no one on his horizon. A Hopkins match then would have helped with his legacy and such. Take 50-50 for a supposedly easy fight against a fighter he called smaller. I don't think it was a bad deal at all. Hopkins view was that he was the champion as well, undisputed at that and they should be equal going into the negotiations. Hopkins can be a stubborn ******* though and their egos got in the way. No way Hopkins waited on anybody to get old though, he just wanted everything to be fair according to his standard. Hopkins is older than all these guys.
