both fighters should end their boxing careers by fighting each other one last time. although hopkins recently displayed that he is still a excellent boxer there isnt much for him to prove.
roy jones is pretty much washed up. he's been done since his losses to glen johnson and antonio tarver. but he showed a lot of heart with his fight against calzaghe. fighting to the end with a bloody eye and i believe he tried his best to win unlike some of his other fights where just cruised to the of the fight while not putting much effort.
so why not both fighters fight each other one last time two and end their boxing careers and then call it a day.
they are both boxing legends and why not put one last show for the fans.

if the fight goes through, promoting the fight should not be hard.

    :thumbsup

It would be a waste of time. In the time Roy was busy getting sparked by guys he would have toyed with in his prime Hopkins was beating Trinidad, DLH, Tarver, Wright, and now Pavlik. At this point in their careers Hopkins is simply in an entirely different class than Jones.

Hopkins be way too much for Roy at this point..Hopkins can go out with the following :

Dawson or Calzaghe if he doesn''t land either than retire and promote .

Before last night I would have agreed with you. Now the fight is more or less pointless, as we've seen that Jones can't get off his punches. There is no longer any question or lingering doubt as to whether Roy can pull it together anymore.

Hopkins wins this one without any serious problems and it does very little for his legacy.

I am now more interested in Hopkins fighting Dawson or a rematch with Calzaghe (which I see Hopkins winning).

  8. Not a bad idea, it to me would be a pick em fight, be on te flip side it would probaly be a boring snooze fest, i would rather see Hops fight DAwson..

For the time being I'll take Calzaghe at his word that he's retiring. With that in mind, I think Hopkins v Dawson is a very interesting matchup. Hopkins traveling to Copenhagen to fight Kessler would be interesting. Or - if Taylor is impressive in beating Lacy - perhaps a third Taylor fight. But I don't want to see RJJ in the ring again.

If not Calzaghe, then I believe Dawson does the most for Hopkins. Kessler has already been beaten by Calzaghe, so the win will do much less for his legacy than the undefeated Dawson. That said, I believe Kessler would be a great win, it's just diminished by Calzaghe's already having been there and done that.

Agreed: Hopkins beating Dawson would be more impressive than beating Kessler at this point.

No point... Hopkins doesnt need jones, he outclasses him. He should be looking for bigger fish now like Dawson... JC rematch... hell even a Taylor rematch or a Kessler fight is more glory now then a RJJ fight.
