The pressure and the workrate will be far too much for Jones.

I know what ya mean man, he's my fav fighter of all time, but id' like for him to leave the sport on a high note, but if he faced Calzaghe he'd get beaten.

Nah because Jones is still a good counter puncher ..Joe will have a good workrate but with no pop to get Jones' respect ..Its going to be an interesting match up..

I hope so. I just see Jones going into a shell for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. But that's why they fight the fights.

If he had Glen Johsnons's pop I would agree with you ..But he will go into a shell but I don't think against Joe he won't return fire ..Lets not forget that Jones has experience as well ..It will be a brilliant boxing match imo ..I'm going with Jones ..I love Joe C but the power will be the equalizer ..Handspeed they are about the same ..

calzaghe doesn't really use the same kind of pressure as a glen johnson type. his is more jump in with combinations then get out when he is done throwing not really stand there in your chest. if jones can keep his confidence up i think he has a chance

Oh I agree I was making the point that if Joe does pressure Roy ,Roy would put up more of a fight due to Joe's lack of pop ..

I hear you- as great as Hopkins is on a resume he should be just a statistic at this point. How he has not been over run by the younger opposition in the game is a mystery to me. He gets the job done at his age which i definitely give him credit for but then again so did james toney and roy jones and everyone has been saying that they should both bow out graciously. I say we need to urge all of the elder fighters out of the game so we can start putting the money and spotlight on the younger fighters and get some exciting matchups with the younger talent! We need to have the big promoters loosen their grip on some of that money and start putting on relevant shows, not regaling acts of courage and valor.

If you look at what happend when Joe and B-hop had their press conferences and all the posting on the boards its the NAMES that are constantly brought up, in B-hops case you have peeps squeaking in with Winky, DLH as great fighters B-hop fought however if you look deeper obviously winky was blown up and DLH is better a couple of weight classes lower.

Now Joe has Lacy, Kessler and B-hop on his resume.

If he gets Jones name it will help him legacy wise. If he took pavlik instead everyone would just jump on the fact that pavlik was exposed etc etc.

    Jones will loose to Calzaghe

Jones is no Hopkins, and he will be there to be hit, he will be there for the 1000 punches to be thrown at him. Jones defense is nowhere near as good as Hopkins' at this stage of his career.
Its a good money move for Jones, but he cant win this fight against Joe.
People need to understand that the only reason Calzaghe looked sluggish last night was because of Bernard's awkward, counter-punching style.

Joe should fight Jones, then Pavlik.
If he wins both, then retire.
Anything less would still leave some doubt with many boxing fans about his all-time status.

And Hopkins is no Jones ..The one thing that Jones has over Hopkins even now is handspeed ..Yeah he has slowed down but the hands are still their ..He also covers up much better ..I personally don't see Joe landing 1000's punches on Jones he was supposed to do that to Hopkins ..Its going to be a very good fight ..Don't count out Jones ..Especially since Joe doesn't poses the power of a Tarver or Johnson !
