Why do they need to be compared to Calzaghe in the first place? You need to call of couple of fighters who will likely get into the HOF (Hill moreso then Griffin I admit) a clown just to make Calzaghe better? :huh

Nah, i was simply making the point that Roys HOF career was siminished somewhat by not facing the best comp available..
And if he had the guts to face someone like calzaghe or DM, he mightve lost in a way other than DQ per his poor punch resistance wouldve been tested moreso

You've either never watched Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr. or you're just simply delusional.

He was coming off the back of his Greatest ever win (by a great margin) - Jones was ktfo 4 years before by two guys - if you don't know that you should be shot - werewolf avatar man. :)

Thats right, back in '98 Calzaghe beat P4P great Branko Sobot and then a prime living legend in Ferreyra, who was only 38 at the time.

How would Jones, who by that time had only beat bums like Hopkins, Toney and Pazienza have coped against someone used to fighting such a high caliber of opposition:rofl

Watch the fight again and think if prime Jones would have ever let Calzaghe hit him with that punch. In that fight, Eubank was past his prime, weathered from his wars with Watson and Benn etc.

I don't think he's suffered from too many punches, up until his time being knocked out he hardly was touched. It's just that he's got a lot of pride. And it's not totally delusional. I will say his cut man in the Calzaghe fight was the worst I've ever seen. Horrible, Jones deserved better....:verysad

Hey, Calzaghe threw 80-100 punches a round, and i bet he woulda popped roy back in 98, and we wouldve found out about that chin 6 years earlier

He should have attack calzaghe in the 2nd round. He let him recover and he end up losing. Calzaghe was hurt in the 1st round and still shaken in the 2nd round. If jones would have attack him he could have ended the fight.

Oh yeah, it was ALL Jones fault he never faced DM huh? As for Calzaghe, when should he have faced him? Joe had many opportunities to move up to Jones' weight.

Jones was not hurt in that fight. This must mean that Joe's fist are made of pillows.

All thought Eubank was past his best, took the fight at short notice and was weight drained, at that stage of Calzaghe's career it was actually a reasonable win in my opinion.

However, if you think that beating a past it Eubank and then fighting Sobot and Ferreyra would in any way prepare Calzaghe for what RJJ would bring then you are sadly mistaken.

BTW Calzaghe beat Eubank in '97 not '98.
