"Prime" Roy is a myth. The guy did not fight anyone. He handpicked fight after fight because HBO allowed him to.
This happens before every Calzaghe fight. His fans talk about how he is going to completely dominate his opponent and how his opponent isn't that good. Then after the fight, all they do is talk about how underrated his opponent is and whine about how no one respects Calzaghe. Believe me, there were plenty of Calzaghe fans who said he would completely dominate and stop Hopkins. A few of them said they wouldn't give Calzaghe any credit if Hopkins won more than one round.
Ok, I believe you. But whoever the guy in this video is would have ****ed up Calzaghe :yep [YT]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="<A href="http://www.youtube.com/v/UDWnMXzgeZo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param">http://www.youtube.com/v/UDWnMXzgeZo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UDWnMXzgeZo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/YT]
I'm a big big RJJ fan but i have to agree with you. It looks like even some writer are trying to hype the fight now. I would really like Jones to win. JUst can't see this version of Roy beating Calzaghe.
Well I'll tell you one thing. If Roy Jones KOs Calzaghe, every one of his fans including himself are gonna feel really dumb. First Hatton comes to America and inevitably gets KO'd by Mayweather and then Calzaghe leaves his European Shell and gets KO'd by Jones
Roy had skills no doubt it is just a shame he was allowed to fight such a low level of opposition and not take the toughest fights and risks that were out there for him.
In the Tito fight, Jones showed flashes of greatness and while he still has some great boxing skills, Jones hasn't been Jones since 2003. Jones is my second all time favorite fighter and I'd love nothing more than to see him surprise us but I just don't see it happening. Jones is no longer aggressive enough to beat Calzaghe and I see Joe dominating the fight and possibly KO'ing Jones mid way through the fight. I believe people are giving Jones more of a chance in this fight because of what Hopkins did to Pavlik. Make no mistake about it, Jones is one of the all time greats, but he's a mere shadow of what he once was. Some attribute it to age, but I see Jone's downslide as a just a lack of confidence and motivation. I've felt that Jones has been fighting only for the money and really doesnt care much about the fight game anymore.
I agree that Calzaghe will win this fight, however no one is scared of Joe's power are they, glass jaws or not
