Jones is being given more of a chance than he deserves

I don't think Roy is "scared" of Calzaghe's power either he has none but neither does Glen Johnson.

When Roy starts getting hit he clearly goes into a "shell" and if he does this long enough against Calzaghe a stoppage is possible.......

Motivation is a huge part of preparation and Joe is a HUGE motivaiton for Jones. Logically Joe should be a clear favorite, but stylistically as you saw in PAV vs Bhop is a big variable in this equation. Jones vs Joe equals a bad stylistic match up for Joe. Joe is busy, comes forward, he's use to being faster than his opposition and Joe is open for counters...IF...if you are fast enough and Jones has enough speed to cause Joe problems. The jab needs to be a key part of Jones's offense and that will open up Joe for Lead rights to both the head and body. A few rounds of pot shots by Roy will have Joes punch output decrease enough for Jones to begin working his combos more effectively...I see a KO for Jones by a right followed by a Left Hook or even an uppercut by the championship rounds.

 

Im a Calzaghe fan and i wont feel dumb if he loses, I've said all along it will be closer than people think, Cal istnt that comfortable with counterpunchers, and thats the tactic Roy will employ. And he wont fear Joes power so he will take more risks(Cal knows this,thats why he keeps going on about changing in this fight and putting more power into his shots,Bluff)


The Only people that should feel dumb are the nuthuggers and Haters, Or even worse the people writing Jones off so much that when the fight is Close(which it will be) they can use that to criticise Joe about not dominating a so called completley shot version of Jones Jr.

 

Nope, Prime kessler at 28 years old, The guy who dominated a highly regarded undefeated andrade.

What is your point. I don't like Calzaghe. I don't think he has anywhere near the skills of Jones or Hopkins actually. I feel he beat Hopkins on activity. I think he'll beat Jones in the same way. I'm hoping I'm wrong though.

And yes! After Calzaghe beat Kessler he was being compared to SRR by some of his idiot fans. Some of them claim he was better prime for prime then Jones and Hopkins, he claims Jones ducked him his whole career. So.....If Jones beats him alot of people are gonna feel real frigg'n stupid.

I think it's more less JOE who feels he deserves to call the shots and pick whom he wants to fight. Joe hasn't done much but he is on a winning streak and the name is what JOE wants......it has less to do with the Challenge b/c I believe he feels that Roy Jones Jr now is not what he use to be when THIS fight could have been worth more for Joe's legacy.....The up side for Jones is this is a winnable fight against one of the sports best at this stage....a win over Joe puts Roy right back into the thicke of things in boxing which is what Roy wants...he wants to be relevant and he wants to be the man who beat the man....kind of giving Roy a new start to a long boxing career that went sour after such an amazing start.

Calzaghe has next to no chance against a prime Jones at 168. Jones' chin wasn't even an issue at that weight, and Calzaghe doesn't have the power to crack it...which means he had virtually no chance of winning.

 

I'm picking him based off of how far past it Jones is, and that I'm afraid Jones can't fight a full 12 with an elite fighter anymore. But I witnessed how Hopkins outboxed the guy early on in their fight, and then I witnessed Joes workrated and style cause Hopkins to gas. I take offense to some posters who saw the same thing I saw but still claim Joe is a technically better boxer then both Hops and Roy. I also think one thing is inevitable in this fight, and thats that Roy will win the early rounds easy....and give a clear indication of what a "prime" Roy would've done to Joe.

I liked Joe, but since the Hopkins fight and before that fight I felt he acted like a disrespectful twat.

 

Joe is pretty much prime right now....he progressively has gotten better in terms of instinct, skills and experience. Physically he may be a bit past his best but OVERALL he's a far better fighter now than ever thanks to his RECENT step up in competition...Guys like Kessler, Bhop and now Roy Jones are his toughest career challenges which give him the experience, knowledge and skills that you can't get by outclassing guys like Lacy, Ried, Bika's ect. A prime Roy Jones is long gone so Joe has to settle for an old roy who is still dangerous...Joe just won't get the respect he would have had he faught a prime Roy.

 

You find a way to try and discredit Roy Jones' best wins but have nothing but good to say about Calzaghe????

Roy was great, and he stepped up to the plate and won far before he ever lost. The fighters that finally beat him-Johnson, was beaten by a number of Roy victims , including Tarver who was beaten by Roy victims and by Roy himself.... So it wasn't like he was finally "stepping up to the plate" when he fought Tarver and Johnson. He simply was past his best.

Calzaghe held in a higher regard??? I guarantee you Roy will be remembered more than Calzaghe, and that speaks for itself.
