who would win? i know jones was great flashing his skills against taxi drivers and postman but when it came to a proper test - man to man, toe to toe, who would win this match up.; try and think about it logically. no-one in super middleweight history could have ever walked over joe calzaghe and that is a proper FACT! what would happened?

well this thread has come before but in light of the "who would've beaten roy jones thread" can't hurt to revisit.

thinking about it logically: joe calzaghe would ALWAYS trouble roy at 168. and if they fought 10 times, roy would win 8 (6 by UD, 2 by stoppage) and calzaghe would would 2 by decision. never easy for either man but honestly, joe is a level below on talent.

Jones by KO in 1 round and yes im serious. Jones dropped Calzaghe at 40 and he wouldnt go for the kill after he dropped him did he throw a punch in that round ? If that was 1997 Jones then you better believe he is throwing his lighting fast combos from odd angles and busting Calzaghe's head around like its a bobblehead.

That china chin meant nothing in his prime it shows you something when he didnt get KOed until his mid 30s and the weight drop. Calzaghe couldnt KO a bleeding 40 year old Roy Jones.

jimmie, i've respected your opinions in past threads but if you think jones KO's a prime calzaghe in round 1 then you need to wake the **** up and think mother****er.

:goodappreciate it. we'll disagree but you seem to be examining it as objectively as possible (though your cracks against jones resume are slightly unwarranted and ironic given calzaghe's own. i think it should be agreed that neither man fought the level of opposition that their talent deserves)

roy never ever fought an opponenet like joe in his prime - difficult to hit and someone who could keep non-stop pressure on for 12 rounds. in his prime, joe also hit way harder than he did at the end of his career.

Jones would take the **** out of Calzaghe prime for prime , in his book he says..
"although hes still active i would never fight roy jones now, hes not the same fighter and i`d have nothing to gain from beating a shadow of what he once was hes been knocked out cold twice what would i have to gain by knocking him out for a 3rd time." He also said, "In his haye day hes the one fighter i would have ever worried about"
This book was from just after the Bika fight aswell.

What a little hypocrite joe is tut tut.

Joe didnt lose any power in his career he just simply faced better fighters at the end more durable fighters. Everyone KOs the cans at the start but once he faced Lacy, Jones, Kessler, Hopkins, Bika some of his best opponets he could not stop them.
