"Calzaghe is a good European fighter but there are too many question marks about his career. I have answered all my doubters and beaten living legends but Joe has too much catching up to do. He beat Bernard Hopkins but Hopkins was at the end of his career - and now he has to get past me. I've been looking at tapes of Joe's fights and I just can't see a way that he can beat me."

Jones is too old for this at this time. His work rate sucks. He does have a chance to KO Joe if he comes out with everything he has in the 1st few rounds.

A JC late rd TKO is even possible. JC easy UD. 8-4 9-3

I think Jones believes he has the style to beat Cal. I'm going with Jones. I think he does too. The words spoken by both men are just words. We need fight talk to help inspire our opinions lol...

I can see what Roy is saying as far as countering opportunities, ect, but what about the way Calzaghe likes to smother his opponents and pile on punches?.. Nonstop. Roy has shown a great susceptibility to this style, no? Tarver employed a much slower, poor man's version, and Roy seemed not to like it very much. What's Roy going to do if he's having trouble catching Calzaghe? Outwork him? I think most people, by far, after looking at the tapes, feel differently. Calzaghe is flawed, yes, but this isn't a good fundamental matchup of styles for Roy.

Calzaghe has shown time and again his ability to adapt as a fight progresses. jones has NEVER shown such an ability. THat will be the difference in this one.

One thing Roy won't struggle with, is catching Calzaghe. The big question is how does Calzaghe react when he's caught? If he isn't hurt by Jones shots then as you say at this stage he'll out-work Jones. If he is hurt by them then Roy won't step back and admire like Hopkins did, I'm positive about that.

Really? Another one of the things that people say that concerns them these days about Jones is his seeming lack of killer instinct. Even Jim Lampley has talked about it. Interesting. ^

You could see in the Trinidad fight he was holding the guy up for practically the 2nd half of the fight....Jones likes Trinidad, it's well known. I just don't think he'll show Calzaghe the same courtesy should he hurt him, it's a much bigger fight for him legacy-wise. We'll find out soon enough, I guess.
