Jones Jr-Calzaghe-Hopkins

Calzaghe was never elusive, never "bobbed and weaved", and never had a good defence. These are facts, go watch some Calzaghe on video and get back to me. :good

 

I've seen every single one of Calzaghe's fights from Eubank onwards, his entire championship career. I think he had a weak, sloppy defence. He made up for it in other ways of course, but that doesn't change the fact that he had real deficiencies in his game.

And by no conceivable definition of the word "elusive" was Joe Calzaghe elusive. He was always there to be hit. I would suggest that it's you who hasn't seen him fight, if you believe him to be "elusive". He never was. At all. In any way.

I think when it comes to "skills" you have to put Hopkins first. Physical gifts (before he got old obviously) imo would have to go to Jones. Im going to be 100% honest. I haven't seen enough Calazaghe fights to really make an unbiased opinion. He beat Lacey (who an old Jones beat). He beat an old Jones that almost anyone could beat. The Hopkins fight I truly think he lost. Give Joe all the credit in the world for the Kessler fight though. Those are the only 4 I saw.

 

I hold truths to be self-evident. Joe Calzaghe never bobbed and weaved in an elusive fashion. :good

 

Calzaghe didnt so much bob and but did weave, It wasnt really his style but the proof is on his face that he had a good defence as there is hardly a mark on him after 46 winning fights.
Watch Calzaghe against Lacy and you will see he could be hard to hit cleanly even when in punching range.

Now Popkins, what did Headbanger do to you that made you too ashamed to be known as Popkins :-(?
