    The Sosa fight?

The way he sits on the ropes and soaks pressure up, that's what gives me an indication he would struggle with pressure fighters of a higher level.

I don’t think they’d have walked through him.

I think they’d have been deterred by Roy’s speed and power.

I love guys like Jake, but we need to be realistic here.

Jake was 5’8 with a very small reach of 67”

He was also easy to hit and had lots of scar tissue due the wars he had.

Yes, he wasn’t just a crude slugger with no skill. But what would he have done against a prime version of Roy who’d have been a LHW on fight night?

    Jake wasn’t beating Roy.

We'll never know but I think he and others would do.

For my money, Roy would have massacred Jake, if we're talking day before weigh-in.

Sosa was probably about 190 lbs in the ring, super strong, super durable, described by Toney as the guy who hit him the hardest, came off a KO win over the also really strong Williams - got rocked by Jones in both rds and floored for the first time in his pro career. Roy took more punches than he usually did, but wasn't hurt in any way.

If that isn't proof that he could take care of swarmers, I don't know what is.

He proved he could take care of Sosa.

But swarmers of a higher level will find more success imo.

    I'm talking 160 fight night.

I'm talking Jake being MW champ of the world having to defend his title against Roy Jones Jr.

We’ll never know, but we can make an educated guess based upon the available evidence.

Jake was very small and hittable.

How many high level swarmers have you seen from Middleweight to Lt. Heavyweight, though? Not talking pressure fighters, but straight up swarmers. It's one of the rarest, most difficult styles to master at the elite level.

For the record, I don't rate Roy as highly head to head at Lt. Heavy as I do Middle and Super Middle.

    A time machine fight?

I’ll take the Tate version of Roy who was 25, and who went on to beat Toney in the same year.

Then Toney must have been hopeless against swarmers, then, since he had much more trouble with Sosa and was given a good go by Williams, whom Sosa KO'd.

If you show vulnerability by such a dominant showing as that one, every fighter is more or less vulnerable against anyone.

Of course we can take educated guesses. Mine is LaMotta by ko.
