Well educated fans seem to care whether Calzaghes toughest fights were against top notch opposition, you see that's how fighers are judged, always has been and always will be :huh

And no, Tarver and Johnson did not give Jones 'mileage', that was an accumulation of all the years of owning the very best at 160, 168 and 175 and the one trip to heavyweight, combined with age this proved a bridge too far. Yet he's still considered the best guy Calslappy has ever faced. Funny that.

    Here, you're just being a dumb ****.

"No, Tarver and Johnson didn't give Jones Jr Mileage" - before Tarver beat him, Jones Jr was able to scale to HW and beat a champion there.. yet afterwards, due to the Tarver and Johnson KO's, he's considered shot?

What a ****ing idiot you are.

You don't want to respect the victories Calzaghe has? That's your right, but don't do it in this thread, you uninformed ****ing **** for brain poodlecunt.

if thats the best answer you can give then it's my turn....

jones was the legitimate champion ON THE WORLD STAGE - which means he had the marketability and fanbase internationally to make any fight happen.

jones' division was ordinary . like hopkins' was - and calzaghe still chose to avoid them.

bottom line is that he never made himself a commodity overseas and both he and warren milked and suckered the brits to this end.

if anyone disagrees with me i'm up for it.

but i want to hear a legitimate point of view.

Face it mate...nobody is saying Jones would lose to Calzaghe prime on prime. I will make my original point in a more blatant "Brummy friendly" way.

Your Great-Great-Great Grandad was once really hard. But now he is riddled with arthritis and can't stop shitting himself.

You are really hard, not as hard as your Great-Great-Great Grandad was, put you are still pretty hard.

You get into a Boxing ring for 12 rounds of championship Boxing. Would you describe that as a mismatch?

"Salem Bika" - wow, you truly are ****ing informed aren't you.

You just proved my point, you stupid ****.

"Loss against Reid" - Priceless. Absolutely ****ing priceless.

Even Reid himself couldn't claim that.

Has Jones Jr held every single belt in a single weight division? No.

Has Jones Jr accumulated the series of victories in a single weight division Calzaghe has? No.

Has Jones Jr never lost? No.

These are about the only three advantages Calzaghe has over Jones Jr in terms of legacy.

Who fought and beat the better fighters? Jones Jr.
Who did more in weight classes? Jones Jr.
Who was the more exciting fighter? Jones Jr.
Who was better H2H in their primes? Jones Jr.
Who held P4P#1 for so long? Jones Jr.

    The list could go on.

Jones Jr is a shitload more secured as a legacy fighter than Calzaghe and he should be. In my view, Jones Jr is the best fighter of the last 25 years.

I believe that Jones central issue is that he doesn't seem to have legs anymore. He still looked shot to me against Trinidad, less handspeed and footspeed, less fluidity and less ability to move around the ring at the pace he used to.

Calzaghe is also slowing down, but he he has not slown down as much. The fact that he is a pressure fighter is going to be an issue for Jones because Jones no longer has the legs to set up Calzaghe for the odd angled shots that Jones was famous for. Calzaghe squares up often, but Jones has to be willing to pull the trigger for that to matter. That is one of the keys to the fight, along with Jones work rate. Calzaghe really only needs to do what he's been doing to win.

Closer to the fight, I will give a more detailed analysis. Right now I will go with Calzaghe UD.

I would argue that it is not Calzaghe's duty to make himself a commodity it should be left to the promoter. It has been a long time coming but it has eventually happened now - as I'm sure you'll agree?

Now, when you take into account that American promoters would rather promote the short-term talent like Jeff Lacy and Peter Manfredo then you can see how hard it has been for Calzaghe. But now he has fought on both sides of the pond and has been seen by Boxing fans and has generated enough publicity to be seen by non-Boxing enthusiasts in the USA/UK alike. Agree so far?

Jones has never left the USA. How can he be a World commodity when he hasn't showcased his talents abroad. Put it this way, despite his incredible talent PBF was unheard of amongst ordinary people in the UK before Hatton. Jones' fights, however great he has been, have only been significant to the USA or Boxing fans. Mike Tyson = overseas commodity. He fought in the UK and he had that je ne sais quoi that gets non-Boxing enthusiasts interested - unlike RJJ.

Will you at least agree that is a kick-ass argument?

I picked Jones by UD, or maybe that's just wishful thinking. He has the tools to do it. The biggest key for him is letting his has go. If he does that, he wins. Only time tells though :yep

    Result: Calzaghe UD, Calzaghe showboats.

Jones is glad to pick up a check (at such a late stage) to pay off music debts, and states what a great champion Calzaghe is. Everyone goes home happy.

No harm done to Roys legacy or Joe's. Result for everyone.

of course. but like i said the horse has already bolted.

calzaghe's feeding off low risk opponents like he has always done. this shouldn't be news to anyone.
