Hanshaw pulls out after money issues edit : Hanshaw is not fighting Roy Jones Jr on July 14. According to Shaw, Hanshaw is being erroneously advised that there is more than the $150,000 available to Team Hanshaw. As a result of this poor advice, Hanshaw is refusing to sign the bout agreement Shaw presented to him. Roy Jones Jr, who confirmed that "the $150,00 is all that's on the table for Hanshaw. That's the same money Showtime was going to pay, that's the same money we agreed to pay him." Jones later added, "whether it's Hanshaw or someone else, I'm fighting on July 14."
I'd be disappointed, if Hanshaw really pulls out. $150,000 isnt the greatest payday but adding a win over RJJ would certainly boost his money for his next fight, significantly.
Then I'm officially pulling out as a consumer. I was buying this to watch Tony, not some fossil versus a nobody.
how can you possibly make that second statement after having made the first? do you even care whether you come across as a total boob? atsch
hanshaw wouldnt have stopped jones he had no power at 168 never mind 175 but he couldve won a ud he is pretty good
he didn't have murderous power, but he had enough to crack a suspect chin that is no longer protected by speed and reflexes. :deal
if it turns out that roy really did price this **** out, he's officially going on my shitlist. this was hanshaw's shot at big time recognition.
You think Roy still makes in the $3M range? His PPVs are pretty cheap, compared to marquee PPVs, and they don't do great numbers. It's certainly possible, but I don't think he gets that kind of cash anymore. How much has Hanshaw made in the past, and didn't he agree to this purse when they announced this fight?
Believe me, Hanshaw didn't have a chance or Jones wouldn't have agreed to fight him.Roy backed away from a fight with Peter Manfredo for God's sake! Jones wants to get paid, but he doesn't want to fight anybody with a ghost of a chance.Roy has gone from a potential Sugar Ray Robinson type legacy to a reluctant prima donna, and now has spiraled downward to a sad, but still very loud joke.
WTF Tony? $150k is a lot of scratch, it's a winnable fight (you'd haveta think unless Roy pulls out the old Roy). I'm certain he's never gotten that kind of payday before, and if he wins, it'd surely lead to bigger and better things, think Tarver and Johnson... Johnson was a nobody road warrior before the Jones KO, he got his real exposure after beating Roy.. made himself some good money as well. Hanshaw is making a mistake. ..in lieu of Hanshaw.. I think Roy should fight Felix Cora Jr.. the only guy with a worse chin than him at his weight!
