I have watched this over and over again on youtube. The punch that dropped him didnt land flush whatsoever. the side of the head, not the temple. I am no conspiracy theory person, but god damn, I HAVE SEEN MY MOTHER TAKE CLEANER RIGHT HANDS FROM MY FATHER THAN WHAT ROY GOT HIT WITH. Unreal. Thers is no reason for Roy to throw a fight, which I am sure he didnt. why would he? Just goes back to the age old question with him. Before Tarver did he ever got drilled clean on the chin in any fights? Danny Green is a really good strong fighter take nothing away from him. Why does Roy like to fight off the ropes, if he got KO'd both times perviously by Tarver and Johnson fighting off the ropes? As for the stoppage, he was defending him self covering up although no greatly he was protecting himself.
hes OLD dude....punch to the back/side of head throws your equilibrium off / balance... he was dazed but not hurt...yeah bad stoppage as far as what was at stake and alot of punches were missing....
Old habit are hard to change, in Roy's mind he is still 25 and thinks he can counter off the ropes without being hit which in todays reality is the farthest thing from the truth.
sugar ray leonard said after the norris loss that he could see the punches coming, but could not get out of the way anymore
My thought entirely. It looked a nothing sort of right hand over the top which didn't connect flush at all? Mystifying...
Didn't he get smashed in the face a couple of times by Jeff Lacy? How can he take those, yet get destroyed by a nothing punch from Green?
^ yes Jones was taunting to the audience and having a conversation with someone outside the ring.....then Lacy hit him with a hard punch and Jones kept talking to the guy outside of the ring....lol The place where Jones got hit was far from his chin, if Roy hadn't turned his head he would have been able to take the shot.
green is a big hitter mate, all his wins have come via ko or tko. plus jones is old. the two dont mix well as we all saw. edit...sorry, 3 of his wins have gone the distance.
