He didn't cut weight. The scale never balanced. Why would Jones make such a fit about immediately while still on the scales if he really was 193?
like we have a ****ing rolladex with score cards from the past come on Eze, and you can argue 7/7 power punches on behalf of tarver those rounds but lets be real thats probably 6/7 more than jones threw I dont have my card from the fight how many years back was it? what I do know is that Tarver didnt have a single fan there and the decison was widely boo'ed explain that:think
sorry, i thought you meant your last comment like a question. i should have known better. your one of the better posters here.
I worded my post wrong man. I meant to say how in the hell could Jones be 193 pounds when he weighed 199 just a day later? A Heavyweight like Roy Jones wouldn't have to cut weight because he's moving up in weight trying to pack on muscle. So 199/200 is what he actually weighed. The scale wasn't balanced you're right.
Was doing a bit of searching. Tarver actually threw a grand total of 12 punches from rounds 3-5 with landing 2. All 3 judges gave Jones rounds 3-6. Round 6 Tarver landed a total of 2 punches.
He wasn't 7/7, he actually was 2/12 for rounds 3-5 and 2/22 round 6. Where all 3 judges gave Jones rounds 3-6 and all 3 gave him rounds 11 and 12. Because Jones was hit more often than ever before, the fact that Jones got roughed up made people think he lost.
tarver won the first two rounds and then gave the fight away. he had some flurries in parts of rounds and the people that were impressed by that gave the rounds to tarver. the fight was close for sure but even the ring magazine who hates jones has much as anyone scored the fight for jones, 116-114.

You could argue that first round to Jones. Tarver did nothing for 2:30 minutes but had a flurry with 20 seconds left.
1st dont bring up punch stats, you clearly only use them when they work in your favor, you dont want to talk about punch stats regarding Mayweather vs Castillo and then when you do you sit back and say most were illegal or blocked. so dont go there if you want to talk stats be real all the way around dont tailor it to fit your argument... and 2nd in response to this last portion, has it ever dawned on you that perhaps the people who bought tickets to that fight also know a thing or two about boxing? Maybe thats the real reason they boo'ed this decison? or are you going to speak for the large populous that was in attendance that night cus you know thats exactly what their thoughts were? I beleive those people who were a pro jones crowd knew exactly what they saw and displayed their dis satisfaction with the scoring of that fight cus like many they to felt Jones had lost the fight... and again this was a pro jones crowd we are talking about
I never said the punches landed were mostly illegal or blocked. I was clarifying what someone else said. And I will use punch stats mostly for punches throw. Because we have to be honest counting punches thrown is a likely 99% likely legit stat. And I would bet you 95% of the people didn't sit down and actually score rounds, they just "felt" Tarver won without scoring. Doesn't matter. Those people didn't score the fight round by round like the JUDGES have to. I would love to watch this fight right now with you and compare cards. I've asked you in the past in another thread and you didn't then.
Roy gutted out a close but decisive win. I seriously questioned Tarver's mental toughness down the stretch.
Roy Jones Jr. is the biggest hype job in the history of boxing, guy is nothing but an HBO hype job.o Tarver landed the harder blows
Ray robinson wasn't getting sparked out, it was just age at a high weight class. People have been way kinder to the legacy of Pernell Whitaker and Camacho and even Duran because they weren't getting knocked out cold at the end of their career, now we question whether Jones knew how to box or just got by on extreme physical gifts. Duran got sparked by Hearns but redeemed himself with at least two great performances after that and a bunch of good ones. Jones' entire skill set is being questioned in a way those guys were never, ever, ever questioned.
