These are my sentiments. Of the 2, im a far bigger JC fan but i was not thrilled to see RJJ take a whooping.

I would also like to say that i think that, regardless of what any haters on here are saying, they were 2 gents in reality. I think they came to entertain and nobody was disrespected last night.

He was clearly hurt at one point, and Joe didn't follow it up which suprised me. Maybe he is so accustomed to going the distance now he's forgotten his finishing skills.

He also busted Jones up badly, and the bodywork slowed down Jones quicker than anybody expected. I mean they started to take an effect as early as the third round I think.

So he wasn't punching with no power, but I still expected him to throw more substantial punches.

So Roy is 39 and shot. Why so early?
They say the last to go is the power: this just doesn't add up....
Look at 43 year old Hopkins.
    45 year old Archie Moore.
I remember seeing pictures of Roy about 10 years ago and the man looked like he was on steroids.
He may look ripped on the outside, but something's up inside.

Joe is 37 soon. the age difference isn't a massive factor because even Joe admits he's past his prime too. That tends to get overlooked. Didn't stop him taking up and coming young fighters like Lacy and Kessler. never stopped him winning.
Ypu never hear about RJJ or BHop having to travel abroad to prove themselves, funny that.
Joe has two busted hands, he vcan't even do press ups, and he can't punch as hard as he used to with single shots. He still finds a way to win, he always finds outfoxes/outboxes everyone who's put in front of him. You don't stay a champ for 11 years without being a bit special.
I still believe Kessler is a real handful and doesn't get the respect he deserves.
I reckon Joe will go the well one more time, it's hard to turn down £5mill, I'd imagine.
He deserves a send off at the Millennium with one more sawnsong performance.

In a mythical match up where a prime Roy faces a prime Calzaghe, we wouldnt even need the word ''light heavyweight'', it would have been a super middleweight fight.

i too dont think it would have been a white wash, but I do see RJJ winning on pts. I dont think a prime 168 jones would even try for a KO against someone like Calzaghe, most of the time when the level of his comp was up, he boxed for a win and wasnt bothered about the stoppage. RJJ on pts imo.

If anything this just shows what I always said. Calzaghe - Jones at any point is very competitive, and Jones hardest fight.

I always said 116-112 Jones or something like it. Make no mistake, he never wanted to fight at the pace Calzaghe sets. If you stand off him like Toney, Hopkins and McCallum did you are going to get clowned. They never had the style to come forward and make him fight.

Calzaghe would have made him uncomfortable, but with sharper reactions, speed and better footwork Jones would win on clean punches.

First of all... putting James Toney in there is hilarious. The man has never one a title other than the IBF. The man has been outboxed and beat on NUMEROUS occasions. James Toney is a very good boxer, but overrated as hell. The man had his ears boxed off by David Tiberi. Was outboxed by Drake Thadzi. Outboxed TWICE by Montell Griffin. He was also absolutely embarrassed head to head vs Roy Jones. People talk about fighters fighting out of their weight class... James Toney had to absolutely kill himself to fight at those lower weights... which gave him a huge natural weight advantage come fight night.... and also provided his fans with an excuse for every time that he lost. Toney has naturally weighed over 200 lbs since High School. Get Toney out of the mix, because he doesn't belong there. Put him in there head to head vs guys like Griffin, Thadzi, ect... where he belongs.

Roy Jones Jr was very flashy in his time. He did very impressive things. The problem is that other than against James Toney (who was overrated to begin with)... he did it against second rate fighters. Can you imagine how amazing someone like Oscar De La Hoya would have looked, had he fought against B class fighters throughout his entire prime? The best two other fighters in Roy's weight class for quite some time were DM, and Tarver. He avoided both like herpes. I find it hilarious how when Roy finally fought Tarver.. he was considered to be at the VERY TOP of his game. The man had just conquered the world by moving up and beating John "Mr. Agility" Ruiz, for a piece of the Heavyweight Title. Roy was ranked #1 pd 4 pd in the world.... nobody was talking about him being on the decline... NOBODY. In his next fight, against Tarver... Tarver pushed Roy to the limit... did things to Roy that nobody ever did before... and many thought Tarver won that fight. Of course... all of Roy's fans came out with the excuse that Roy was too weight drained from cutting back down to 175. Honestly.... that is the most pathetic **** that I have ever heard. Roy did an interview after his last fight at Light Heavyweight and said himself that he was walking around at 186 pounds. Not far fetched obviously... that's only 11 lbs over his weight limit. Against Ruiz... Jones weighed in at 193 pounds. HOLY ****... THE MAN HAD TO GAIN 7 POUNDS!!!! THEN HE HAD TO TURN AROUND AND LOSE 7 POUNDS AGAIN!! Do you know how damn easy that is? 7 lbs? You can't count all the way down to 175, because the extra 11 pounds down to 175 is just what Roy (along with just about every else) loses in water weight for the weigh in, then gains right back when they drink water afterwards. It's all bull****. People left out the fact that Tarver ALWAYS has to cut down from well over 200 pounds in order to make weight himself. Also... that Tarver is the same age as Roy. Then... his fans said that Jones would kill him in the rematch... Jones said that he felt better than ever, 100%..... Jones looked GREAT in the first round... and then Tarver knocked him out in the second. All of the sudden... Jones is shot. ****in' amazing. Tarver layed the blueprint down. All you have to do is stop showing Jones too much respect. Punch when Roy punches... and he becomes a very vulnerable fighter. Glen Johnson did the same... punched when Roy punched... stayed on top of Roy... and proved it once again. Roy isn't so great, if you don't allow him to sit on the outside and pot shot while you have a pose down with him. Calzaghe came in and showed that he can do both. He can bring the fight to Roy and beat him... and beat him at his own game. Yeah... at this point Roy isn't in his prime, but neither is Calzaghe. To be honest... Calzaghe is just as far from his fighting prime IMO as Jones is. If you were to stand in the center of the ring with Jones, and allow him to pot shot you all night while you show him too much respect like his old opponents did... then he would look exactly like he used to. It's obvious... because he still does it when given the opportunity.

Hopkins really did turn it on later in his career. The man is the definition of a person who gets better with age. Did you just see his fight against Pavlik? However... Joe already beat him.... and I honestly believe that Joe was further past his prime than Hopkins. Hopkins style doesn't erode like somebody like Calzaghe and Jones. Hopkins doesn't use the same methods to win as they do. B-Hop can still perform at the top of his game at his advanced age... because using his experience, and veteran craftiness is exactly what makes Hopkins the fighter that he is. So... the fact that I think Hopkins still performs at a level closer to his prime.. and Joe already beat him. I certainly don't understand how a "Prime Hopkins" is a shoe in to beat Calzaghe. Joe doesn't even put half of the power into his punches that he used to. His hands are way too banged up now, and he takes loads of steam off of his shots.

Start showing proper respect. I am tired of seeing fighters like Jones, Toney, and Hopkins only judged on their most memorable moments, and best performances... when you have a guy like Calzaghe (who beat Jones and Hopkins)... is undefeated... and gets judged only on a couple of mistakes that he has made in his entire career. It's pathetic.

In the post fight he acknowledged this saying he didn't go for it because he was in control and didn't want to make a "stupid mistake"

Whoever says and believes Joe hits pitty patty shots needs a Lacy check.

This was not the beatdown some people make it out to be. The cut was caused by one strange angled shot where Roy was sideways and took the punch from an angle.

He still blocked the majority of Joe's shots.

It was a dominant win for Joe, but not a Lacy beatdown. The cut changed things bigtime, not to say Roy would win, but it changed the fight.

Somehow I tend to believe Joe couldn't have gotten away with that hands down **** with a prime Jones... it was obvious Roy was lost in there. Joe was the better man last night.

    Key word: Last Night.

I dont think Joe would of showboated if they had met in their primes, it was supposed to be his last fight so he wanted to go out with a good crowd pleasing performance hence all the showboating
