Jones wasn't shot when he got KTFO just unable to protect what was always a sh it chin. Funny how folks ALWAYS claim their favourite fighters were shot when they lose. Never give the other guy any credit whatever the fuk you do, eh?
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its super chin, Roid Jones. So all the above fantasising by you is based on who exactly making Hagler look a mess, or who exactly hitting him hard enough to make him honest? If Jones could possibly win ( which he couldn't ) it would be based on hit and run. No way would he last even as long as Hearns if he wants to stand right in front of Hagler, or even the way Duran did with Marvin, because again he didn't have the fundamentals of Roberto to sway, slip, and ride with shots to take the power out of them. There is simply no way anyone can go 12 rounds with a PRIME Hagler without him hitting them and hitting them often, and Jones mandible isn't up to the job.
Thats a new one. So now we have 2 mental midgets from Murica both considered ATG's from the same era. Jones and Tyson. Back on topic. Hagler within 5 rounds by clean KO. No one as weak as Jones with that chin is going to stand up to the Hagler onslaught.
Jones wins this without too much trouble. Hagler couldn't catch up with Leonard while his legs were still reasonably fresh. Yes, Hagler had slowed down by then, but Roy was a much more formidable physical specimen at MW than 31 year old, rusty SRL.
Hagler was a decent puncher. He certainly broke enough men down with punches. Hagler caught up with Leonard all night. From about round 2 or 3 on, Leonard was clinching and stalling for time.
He was no Benn or Jackson, but he hit hard plus he was sharp, accurate, and threw great combinations.
He didn't load up on his punches very often, did he? When he did, he hit very hard; for example against Willie Monroe. He could hurt Jones, in my opinion.
I'm great man, thanks. I think you underestimate how great Roy was at MW, due to his lack of great wins. Roy had the speed and skills that SRL had at MW, and he weighed in as a SMW/LHW, and possessed one punch knockout power in either hand. Also, he was very hard to hit clean, due to his great reflexes. So I don't see how he'd have been ran down after 5/6 rounds. I think Marvin could be bothered by movement. And of course I realise that he was past it in 1987. But again, so was Ray. Marvin vs Ray, say in 1981, would have been a tremendous fight. Both guys were much sharper at that point. But up in my honest opinion, Ray would always have bothered him with his speed. And I feel the same about Roy. I think his speed would have given Marvin fits. :good
You've made some good points, but you're always biased against Roy. Since when was Duran light years ahead of Roy in terms of skills? Stop exaggerating. Duran was of course a great fighter, but he was a small, former peak LW, who almost beat Hagler. You note that Marvin was sharp, physically strong, and hard to hit. Well, doesn't the same apply to Roy? Also, Roy was much faster and he was naturally bigger and heavier. Marvin often used to weigh in under 160, sometimes coming in at 157. Whereas Roy was a huge MW, fighting as a SMW on fight night. So don't you think Roy's offensive ars*enal, along with his size and power, would have made it a hard nights work for Marvin too? Hagler weighing under 160, was stronger than Griffin who weighed in the 180's on fight night? Yes, Griffin did great against Roy for a while, but he was on his way to getting knocked out in the first fight, and he got knocked out with a single shot in the rematch. Roy was the only guy in 59 fights to knock him out for the count of ten.
