Exactly, Jones definetly had Joe hurt (illegal or not) and I was screaming at my T.V. for Jones to go after Joe.

Roy seemed intimidated the whole fight. Roy never opened up because Roy was afraid of getting clocked repeatedly in the process.

It was purely confidence issues and a lack of a gameplan. Joe is not an intimidating fighter at all.

Did Roy get a nasty cut in the fight ? I think he did cant say for sure though not sure if that changed the fight ?

I seem to remember alot of showboating more than anything in this fight.

First of lacy is a one dimensional and relatively slow fighter so naturally Jones who is still rather quick would pick him apart...Lacy was never the same or had the chance to reach his full potential because Calzaghe ruined him.....and as for Calzaghe he will never get the credit he deserves he will be a fighter who becomes more appreciated with time like lennox

What?? Not intimidating as far as power, but his workrate, speed, ring-smarts and awkwardness is a nightmare for his opponents. I've never seen Hopkins look uncomfortable in the ring other than the Calzaghe fight. That is a type of intimidation. Roy was plenty intimidated. He was broken by the end of the fight.

Exactly..Joe outworked them both and when they dropped him and he got up and came harder he took the fight out of them mentally

Demeanor, confidence and style, yes. He still would have lost to Calzaghe but in a more competitive fight, even at this point.

That is the strange and interesting aspect of Calzaghe - god knows how he does his thing, but my god he was effective.

Totally agree with your posts in this thread. Roy was broken long before the end of the fight. He was broken early, and as soon as the bad cut happened, he went completely into survival mode. Calzaghe did a very respectful thing by allowing Roy to see the end - and share the last moments of Joe's great career

Joe mugged Roy. Look at Roys face after the fight. There is replay and witness evidence that it was Joe's punches that did all the damage.

He swarmed Roy and battered him to the body, and everytime Roy attempted to open up off of the ropes, Joe snuck in crisp fast punches to his face.

Roy was an utterly spent, broken and beaten man after Joe kicked his ass.

Lacy, stood in front of Roy, threw no punches, and played the same role of punching bag Roy ended up playing just 2 fights earlier.

he was tenacious and had a strong drive to win and you have to respect that.......when someone like him comes along people love to criticize a person who hasnt loss because no one has beat him yet so everyone wants to say how to do it,or who could do it, or who almost did it.Either way the guy was special and peole need to realize it.
