Just seen this online, can't remember if it was posted here at the time In this Sherdog article, it talks about how Jones' lab results were highly suspicious. More specifically, his testosterone to epitestosterone ratio. At the time, they ended up dismissing this as they did not find any banned substance in his body. However, with today's results, it seems as if it is highly probable that Jones did take PEDs in the first fight. An average male has a ratio of 1:1 or a result of 1. Both Jones and Cormier results were below 1. This is to be expected as they were training and when you train excessively, your body will use up more testosterone and it results in a lower ratio. What made it so suspicious was two things: 1) Jones' ratio was well below 1. Pre-fight ratios were 0.29 and 0.25 and with a post-fight ratio of 0.19. The article also noted that the deviations of these results are very unusual. 2) Despite being the much younger fighter, he had much lower levels than Cormier. As you age (past 25 or so), your body will start to produce less testosterone. Cormier's results were ratios of 0.42 and 0.47. Given that he was training hard at the age 36, these results were expected. With Jones' being 28, it does not make sense that his results were so much lower than Cormier's. Also note that the deviations of Cormier's results were much lower. Anabolic steroids are forms of testosterone. When you take it, you have an excess amount of testosterone and your body responds by producing less of it. When you cycle off of steroids, it takes a while for your body to go back to produce the normal amount. As a result, your ratios tend to be lower than usual. If this news was true (results are not concrete yet), than it is very plausible that Jones was on PEDs in the first fight and these lab results shows that he was probably off-cycle at the time they tested him. I couldn't help but to think of this when I read that he was busted for turinabol. It makes so much more sense now
