grotum,no offense. But 1.Look at what you wrote.I definitely wrote that about Hopkins, but I don't agree with it personally.Hopkins is 4-3 in his last 7 fights.Whereas highly I respect what he has done in his career, logically, that kind of record does not make him a PRESENT top 5 p4p fighter.Logically speaking, now think about this carefully,he lost TWICE to Taylor.TWICE.And he hasn't fought in a year.Because he beat almost 40 Tarver and limited Pavlik, you're going to put him in the top 5 p4p?I'm not,and I don't agree with it.2.You tell me to chill. Why didn't you write that to Black? He's the ******* that got personal and obnoxious when I had the temerity to disagree with him.I'm not the one that got personal with him originally. You need to direct your comments to those that commence with the obnoxiousness instead of me that responded in kind even if he agrees with you and I don't.

grotum, you haven't responded. Why did Calzaghe claim on several different occasions including in his own autobiography that Jones was shot even years before they fought, but after the fight was signed, claimed that Jones was still great?

You never saw either one at 160 or 168,did you?Jones'best weight was easily 160,where he beat Hopkins. And 168 was where he beat Toney.Jones' best win at 175 was when he ko'd Hill with a bodypunch in the 4th.

Calzaghe's standing won't be affected by what goes on in this rematch.

I tend to agree. This fight has a sense of nostalgia about it which IMO outweighs any legacy effect.

Because of a hand injury that by this time had become common. It wasnt a supposed injury but a real one that hampered the later half of his career and caused a number of fights to be postponed, including the lacy bout. After the Johnson fight had been postponed in '06 due to this injury (an injury sustained when joe broke his hand on Jeff Lacy's face), Calzaghe faced a mandatory to his belt in Sakio Bika.

Who else has he beat? how many divisins has he dominated? how any times has he unified a division? how many over the major belts has he held at any one time? You're talking about a guy who had his socks boxed off by Anthony Mundine for christs sake

No, they picked them over Hopkins because they believed Hopkins age would count against him, as you say. The essential point that you seem oblivious to is that, on all three occasions, they were emphatically proven wrong. You then continue to argue with the evidence before your eyes and claim that Hopkins must be shot, because people think he must be, even though we have seen those people repeatedly proven wrong.

Yeah, because that's what you do when you 'want no part' of someone who has no mandatory claim to fight you and isn't even in the same weightclass....arrange a fight with them :patsch

When Jones and Hopkins fought,Jones was 24 and Hopkins was 29.Hopkins had 1 loss up to that point from his fourth fight. They were the #1 and #2 ranked middleweights at that time.Hopkins an average contender at that point? You couldn't be more wrong.Middleweight was Hopkins' best weight.Newsflash:he has the record for the most consecutive title defenses at middleweight. As far as the reason Calzaghe said Jones was shot?JC explained it himself.Jones was outright hammered by both Johnson and Tarver. You need to do the research.Read his autobiography for Christssakes. It's astonishing how Roy could be destroyed by 2 guys with nowhere near his resume or reputation and therefore considered shot. Then all of a sudden be great again due to a victory over even more shot Felix Trinidad, whom he couldn't even knock out. That defies logic. He was talking up Jones and I should get over it?CALZAGHE SAID HE WOULD NEVER FIGHT JONES BECAUSE JONES WAS UNWORTHY AND SHOT.Calzaghe wrote this. Not someone else.IT'S IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!Everything I have written here is fact. It's not open to debate. All you have to do is do the research yourself. But It's obvious that you're unwilling to accept the truth. If you want to believe that Jones wasn't shot and Calzaghe didn't know it when they fought, keep deluding yourself. But the facts are in and they completely contradict what you're saying.
