roy was 200 for the ruiz fight. here's proof. start at the 3 min mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrHydFIwfBo after the ruiz fight, mackie shillstone claimed that jones was 200 lbs with 6% body fat. he destroyed his body to make 175. btw, watching it live i had it 8-4 for jones. i watched it again a few weeks later and had jones winning 7-5. jones showed some guts that night. all tarver had to do was move his hands and the fight was his. jones was gassed.
lets see how this poll does, MR. i know Jones will get the most votes, but i'm still interested to see the final numbers after a couple of days. Headbanger makes me laugh. i know he doesn't have the best of reputations, but he sure is funny as hell. ****, nearly forgot. i had Tarver by 3 points.
My best friend was born and raised in Pensacola, and got to meet Roy twice at his school.. We were both always competitive with each other, but that one made me jealous.:yep
back in the day hbo let roy handpick his opponents like garbage men, cops, part time fire fighters etc. for what seemed forever.thats why we started the roycott roy jones went out of his way to avoid tarver.he even wrote a letter to the IBF asking them why they were making tarver his mandatory.trust me jones never wanted to fight tarver.he knew his style was a bad match up for him. anyways the whole weight thing is bull**** convenient excuse
Yeah he never wanted to fight Tarver that much, that he actually did in 2003, and then rematched him. atsch Tarver lost to Harding in the eliminator, and then Roy fought Harding. Anyways, you haven't got a clue! He lost 10 pounds of MUSCLE at 35, after having had 50 fights. Not only that, the weight was rushed off.
yeah, he fought him 3 times. btw, the roycott was at full steam when jones fought gonzalez. you know, the guy that went on to beat dariusz. the whole weight thing is bull****, except for what i showed you on the last post. jones should have never tried to make 175. that's his fault but it without question it affected him. jones even got away with it once vs tarver which was amazing.
roy tried putting on weight and weighed like 199 pounds fully clothed at the weigh in. but i believe he was closer to 190. thats his walking around weight so stop with the bull**** excuses.he didn't drain himself.the truth is tarver gave him a tough fight. he should of just swallowed his pride and moved on but no he gets knocked out cold in 2 in the rematch by a guy he never wanted to fight in the first place.
His average walking around weight is around 190. But that's with body fat to lose. After the Ruiz fight, he kept his physique in the hope of landing another fight at heavy. When it became apparent that he wasn't going to get one, the weight had to come off. But he wasn't fleshy at 190, he was a SOLID 195 + with hardly any body fat. He had to get from a solid physique down to 175 for the weigh in. In an average camp he loses a bit of fat. For Tarver, there wasn't any fat, it was all muscle. You're not looking at things logically. Roy with his Ruiz weight = a solid 190 + Roy out of camp, untrained = 190 Although the Ruiz version would only be just a little heavier in terms of actual weight, his two physiques would be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
