Just caught the last few rounds - good stuff.
However, how was he allowed to keep that massive beard? It was tottally ridiculous and unfair to Garraghty. That thing must have been significantly cushioning the punches

    Cushioning the punches,ha ha.

    You must be joking.

It’s like when people say someone is chinny because they got hurt whilst wearing a headguard.
You get punched clean,a headguard or beard ain’t saving you.

The amateurs now allow beards i think. And obviously the pro game is much more relaxed these days. I think it now becomes a contractual agreement pre fight agreement. Not sure about the cushioning argument but there is possibility of an inaccuracy /actually being able to see the target argument . Also stubble is more dangerous rubbing into cuts than perhaps long hair???. Either way I'm not sure it's much of an issue regarding cushioning.

What a great fight and performance from Jono on Saturday night, he has a very fan friendly style and I'm sure will get plenty of TV exposure in the future. My main concern with him would be his lack of punch power considering his style but maybe that is starting to come with his last 2 ending inside the distance.

One fight I'd love to see is Jono Carroll vs Ronnie Clark, that has fight of the year written all over it!! Both are strong Super Featherweights, like to put on a show for the fans and neither likes to take a backward step.

He was saying he wants a world title shot. What is the situation with the IBF Belt?

Lets be honest all fighters want a world title shot but does beating Declan Geraghty really put you in line for a world title? Ronnie holds the IBF East-West European title so that could be a good way for either lad to finally get a shot at the IBF World Title.

Not disputing that but he is rated 7 with IBF, the title is vacant and no one ranked 1 or 2.

So is it really that ridiculous?

Nothing is ridiculous in boxing haha and I didn't realise that he was that high in the rankings tbh so your right maybe he could get a title shot depending who the IBF decide they want to but I see that Lee Selby is rated in their top 10 and with him holding the belt at the weight below it wouldn't be unrealistic to think he might get an easy win and then be granted a shot at the title at this weight.

Just seen that Ronnie is boxing David Oliver Joyce in August so would have to happen after that but Ronnie vs DOJ is going to be a great fight itself!!
