What are the opinions? I'm Irish and I must admit, I'd never heard of him. I was watching prize fighter last night and was surprised to see a young Irish fighter in it.

I was more surprised when I seen how he boxed in the first fight for a man of 22 in just his 4th pro fight. Fast hands, good combos, good reflexes and a well executed game plan. Great performance, he got me excited instantly and i couldn't wait to see him against Buckland.

He got a bit of a gift decision against Buckland but it was a tight fight and to fight that way against someone like Buckland in just your 5th fight at 22 years of age is something deserved of immense credit. He also showed two other credentials in this fight - a good chin and toughness.

He went on to win the tournament which was very impressive and I'll now very much be watching how his career pans out. He looks very talented, he's very young and he has a likable charisma about him. His comfort and cheekiness in front of the camera actually reminded me of Conor McGregor who has obviously been a sensation in Ireland.

Was impressive. Would suit a longer distance as he clearly has good skillls. Wonder if Eddie will look at taking him on, no reason he shouldn't. Was good exposure last night.

    Definitely lost to Buckland though.

Understatement of the day, Buckland figured him out in a round and clearly won the next 2, it wasn't remotely close.

Hardly understatement of the day! I admitted it was a bit of a gift and that's all it was. Buckland edged the final round, it wasn't exactly one sided.

He done well in winning PF last night, would like to see him & Declan Gerraghty have a rematch to have a conclusive winner.

Thought he looked great for such a novice. Could be a big name with his character. Nice lad as well.

As for poor Gary Buckland. I would argue he even won the first round never mind the last two. But when you have a dark horse, and big money comes for the dark horse, on a crook like fast Eddie's shows... forget winning a decision. Pure and utter corruption.

I went to school with him and I have to say, I questioned his commitment to the sport i.e. he used to drink heavily and not live the lifestyle required for a top level athlete

He seems to have turned it around since then (we graduated 4 years ago) and now is at a decent domestic level

His defence needs a lot of work as he drops his hand every time he throws. he also lacks a jab and his balance is less than impressive.

His pacing is poor also, although that may be due to the short length of the prize fighter fights

Looking forward to seeing him fight again

Well done to him but winning prizefighter is just the first step it's going to get tougher for him now unless he's matched with tomato cans

I was impressed too, must admit I'd never heard of the lad. Was fortunate against Buckland, but still showed enough over the night to suggest he can have an impact on the division.
