Competition in Grebs day was way tougher. Boxing was, with baseball, the big sport in country, maybe in world. Amount of active pros was through the roof, and every poor kid in World in any shape tried it as sport. Greb had 300 fights in 10 years, 4 with Tuney, 2 with Walker, 2 with Flowers----and a poll goes up putting him against Joppy?
The thread isn't that bad. It has to be remembered that we've all seen joppy at his best, we haven't seen greb at his. Who's the closest filmed stylistic match to greb we have? Some reports indicate that he resembles a more defensively elusive calzaghe. Joppy at some time was the number 1 contender to hopkins. It shouldn't be considered trollish to pit a top contender with a top champion. Every great fighter will have a stylistic flaw which could be exploited by a less great fighter. Based on the reports i've read of his fight against walker who's a mw great himself, I think there's enough to conclude that greb would outpoint joppy but it isn't an outrageous matchup.
I'd pick joppy because Greb was a ****** that we haven't seen on film. **** greb. Roy Jones KO1 Greb.
There is always a bit of a wild card in Harry Greb picks. He can beat anybody, and he can potentialy dominate prety much anybody, but an elite fighter can potentialy get past him based on his hectic schedule. Seriously though, Joppy shouldn't take this fight unless Greb holds every single belt.
