Looks as though this is happening next and the winner gets a shot at the Walsh vs Lowe winner for the British title. How do we see this one going? I’ve not seen much of Gill Hearn has kind of done over Bellotti here as the premature stoppage by the ref against Doyle warranted a rematch and I thought Hearn was getting that sorted next
Doyle was underestimated by matchroom. He was known to be a good fighter to those on the small hall circuits. You know what, I'm going with Doyle again. Whilst Gill is a decent prospect, Doyle with a full camp behind him and the little bit more experience he has in the pros against decent opposition, I think will have enough to keep hold of his belt. Doyle from what if seen in the small hall is a good body puncher
I thought he looked way bigger than bellotti on fight night, Reece definitely deserves a rematch, not sure why Hearn has moved this on so quick unless bellotti decided to take some time out?
i'm not sure they were underestimating Coyle, i think they overestimated Reece, Hearn was calling him one of the biggest punchers in the division globally. He's good friends with my Dad and they seemed aware of the challenge Coyle would present, but i think they got caught up in his "bail-out power". He needs big improvements on his defence imo
Yes I would agree that Reece deserves a rematch but If I was training Reece I wouldn't put him back in with Doyle straight away, no way. Another loss could do some real serious damage to Reeces career. The thing is everyone, well everyone outside of who knew Ryan Doyle, had Reece as a massive favourite, even the bookies had him big fav. Those who knew or had followed Doyle thought different. A lot of money was won that night night by those who knew enough to back Doyle. Steve Woods won 10G alone. I've way Ive watche'd Doyle a few times and was there when he drew with Lowe, it was testament to lowes toughness how Ryan never got him out of there. Don't forget for them fights Doyle was still working a 40hr week whereas he had his first full camp for Reece, now that makes a hall of a lot of difference. The right decision has been made imo, not to put Belloti back in straight away
I agree on his defence, he needs to work more on head movement and covering up. His power is good and those body shots will drop most featherweights. Hopefully he works on those and gets back in the mix, he’s very entertaining to watch. He sparred both Frampton and Quigg before there fight and they spoke very highly of him
