Fantastic news to start the year. http://www.mmaweekly.com/dan-miler-welcomes-jordan-mein-to-the-octagon-at-ufc-158s-welterweight-fest If you aren't familiar with Mein, he is one of the best boxers in the sport, with an impressive 26-8 record at only 23 years old. Wins over Riggs, Cyborg, Zaromskis, Burkman, Petz. Unfortunately, he has shown vulnerability against strong wrestlers like Woodley and Jason High, but I'm hoping he is young enough to patch that hole in his game. One of my favorite prospects. Dan Miller is a pretty perfect first fight, really. A scrappy, tough as nails gatekeeper type, that generally only loses to the top dogs. Never been finished in his career, plus has good enough cardio and a strong enough grappling game to pose a threat until the final bell sounds. I like it.
Great first fight for him. And good news indeed. If he wins, John Hathaway would do, would be interesting to see how he fares.
He struggled in the first part of the fight, but certainly destroyed Cyborg in the 3rd round. He looks terribly vulnerable to wrestlers, but I would like to see him eventually get a shot at Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz, that should make for an interesting fight. Or if Nate Diaz is in limbo and wants to make a temporary return to 170, that would also be an interesting fight.
Miller Mein is a good first fight. They should go at it. Mein has good striking and a great opportunity to develop.
About time! Him and Rory MacDonald's rematch will be epic down the road. Also, got robbed against Woodley.
Do you think the UFC is now starting to stack their cards with fights within 1 or 2 divisions on the one card? That way if there are pull outs they have ready made replacements further along the card. Not a bad strategy
Condit's pretty damn good at getting back up, for what it's worth. Like already mentioned -- he's just overall badass on his back.
