Its hard to believe that hes fought in almost 30 world title fights and fought the great Michael Carbajal, a fighter that has been retired for well over a decade. He was underfeated for 8 years and beat a lot of good fighters in that time including Rosendo Alvarez. Hes never been as technically sound as a Marquez, Morales, or Barrera, but when talking about the great Mexican fighters of this generation, Arce is a name that shouldnt be left out as much as it is.
I know what you mean. Tho I think when you had 2 dynamos like Barrera and Morales yrs ago your talking about best of the best hard to put Arce in the same company as them if at all, but in this current age I think its easier to gauge Arce's legacy. To me he's a fan favorite not because of his resume, but like Gatti he leaves it all in the ring against all odds. Where he does beat Morales and Barrera is in charisma I'll tell you that much.:good
He has taken the many chances Arum afforded him and done everything he could with them. There have been much better fighters around that weight who haven't got near the profile of Arce but **** it, he is entertaining and a character...I'll miss him when he bows out eventually.
HOF'er imo.... great career... and let's add Donaire to one of the great opponents he has/will face...
His resume is pretty solid actually..and the fact that he has some very good wins so late in his career and with his style is pretty damn impressive. When I hear Lupe Contreras say "El Mas Macho!" Travieso is the first person I immediatley think of. :good
Definitely one of the toughest and more entertaining boxers to watch.I predicted he was shot against wv2 but I was wrong,a lite version of morales himself.
