    It's not a fantasy. Jorge "Travieso" Arce has challenged WBC super bantamweight champion Israel "Magnifico" Vazquez and apparently the battle is shaping up for November. Arce asked his promoters Bob Arum and Fernando Beltran to get this fight and the showdown reportedly has the support of Sean Gibbons from Vazquez' lead promoter Sycuan Ringside Promotions. Arce said his next fight will be at super flyweight on May 17th in Aguascalientes, Mexico, with another bout in August to get him ready for Vazquez in the 122lb ranks.[/FONT]

    I saw Arce talk about wanting this match in an interview a few weeks ago, but I never thought he was 100% serious about it. It's a horrible idea and Arce would be destroyed. He has a great chin and is one of the toughest fighters in the sport.. even lasting 6 rounds with a big punching offensive elite at 122 could damage him badly. I hope this doesn't happen. Montiel-Arce would be a great and much more realistic matchup.

    Arce would get slaughtered. Vazquez is far too big and far too powerful. Arce would never be the same fighter.

    Erm, is everyone forgetting that a few months ago Arce destroyed Medgoen Singsurat in one round?

    The 53-4 Medgoen Singsurat that took Pac apart in three rounds in 1999, knocking him out with a bodyshot?

    Not to mention that Arce is actually a few inches TALLER than Vasquez, and has even more of an advantage reach wise.

    He's not THAT small of a fighter.
