I think the problem that I saw was that Arce was keeping his hands to himself in the first after Rojas was unloading to the body. It was ****ing brutal and Arce was backing up to the ropes and covering up.
:good Good points. Arce has beaten better fighters than Rojas even at this stage in his career and we're used to see him falling behind on the scorecards first couple of rounds not to take away from Rojas he was doing great, but if you know your winning a fight or at least controlling the action why the hell are you throwing not one, not 2, but 3 cheapshots? I can understand in Rojas recklessness due to his youth and style even Arce defended Rojas on that doing a cheapshot, but a lowblow, a kidney punch, and maybe the last one wasn't illegal, but Arce was already turning from him a 3rd cheapshot, WTF? The action should of been stopped after the first illegal punch, the lowblow.
Don't think there will be a rematch. imo Arce quit knowing he was in big trouble, had to try to preserve another big payday. Next fight will be a tuneup against a lesser foe or they'll push hard to get a payday next time out. Whatever the case Arce on his last legs.
I thought Rojas won the first round except for the KD but one round is not enough to convince me. He did pummel Arce a bit and seemed the better fighter. I must see more of him before i make a decision.
Well, he begins speaking in English and then switches to Spanish...so most of this is only my best estimate based on tone, body language, and picking up an odd word here and there...(maybe one of our posters fluent in Spanish can offer a more comprehensive translation? ) "I never surrendered: I am a Mexican fighter. But, where he he hit me, just here, behind the ear, was a very bad spot. It affected me very badly, so I could not continue..."
Rojas speaks: [yt]43dS7DLUYuo[/yt] "People tell me all the time I look & fight like Tito. " Jesus be trolling like mad, enjoying the spotlight. Note how he forces the interviewer to go through a translator the whole time and keeps on a poker face as though not understanding....then at the very end busts out "Thank you. :good" in perfect English without a trace of accent. :yep
Amen. I'd think his fighting spirit is even more unimpeachable and beyond suspicion than Bernard Hopkins' (who had large majority support here after the NC, and those who questioned him were vilified)
A rematch is very doubtful.Arce won't want one.Giving him the benefit of doubt doesn't erase the fact he took the easy way out.He knew what was in store for him.
Shocked how many are throwing Arce under the bus... Very much anticipating the rematch. :deal A lot of questions to be answered, about each man...
