Cotto is unusual in his attitude when he gets cut. Plus he has skills Linares can only dream of.

 

Yes, Acosta essentially does what Linares does properly without a hype machine behind him, and got found wanting against Rios. Linares would be ****ED!

 

It got him through. Clotted has never been high output, but DeMarco wouldn't have got those shots off if Linares hadn't ****ed about.

 

DeMarco's win over the fantastic Linares is further proof of Edwin Valero's greatness

Who the **** did Valero ever beat to suggest that he would've been that good?

 

Ah, see this is where I jump off from some of the more enthusiastic fans. I think he was very good and could have gotten better. The gym stories and the sparring suggested he was usually talented. But the fact is he never proved it in the ring, but I like him.

I try to be careful that hype doesn't distract me from what a fighter does well.

I agree. I'm somewhere in between Flea and TFFP when it comes to Valero. I think he was very talented, and would've gone on to do a helluva lot more, but realistically a win over DeMarco, who is, frankly, poor at world level isn't enough to suggest he was going to be some kind of future ATG.
