This is one of the few meaningful fights at the basically defunct 130 pound division. While it wouldn't do crown a Ring Champion, I think it's pretty clear that the winner would be the de facto man at the weight.

I'm trying not to let Soto's performance against Guzman cloud my judgment on this fight. Linares is slick, but not as fast or defensive minded as the Dominican fighter. It would be a very hard fight to call; I might lean to Linares.

Rocky didn't duck... He only "avoided" a southpaw boxer in Santiago...

when u'r training 8 weeks for a certain fighter, and then they wanna throw in a completely different style + a different stance opponent, it would've been pretty stupid.....

let me guess, your macho ass would've signed the contract to fight anybody right...:-(

Not really a very valid reason, it's a very poor excuse... Rocky and Santiago are on the same boat... Santiago didn't train for Rocky either...

Actually lots of people were disappointed in Rocky for not accepting the fight...

I hope Soto wins. He deserves a lot more exposure.

True . . . anybody among the three has a chance to make it really big if they'll mix it up. Like I said . . . last man standing.

    Good thinking. :good

Soto is too limited. Ready to see what Linares can do.

You can say that based on the past . . . but what about the ability to step up his game? Is it zero? :D

He can be very effective. But even in his last fight he was looking ordinary til the ko. Very strong willed determined fighter. Just doesn't have the extra athleticism he needs to be the top dog. We'll see where Linares is.
