God I hope this fight comes off.....I would be willing to do a lifetime ban bet on it. Couldn't be more confident that Gamboa drops Linares inside of 5 rounds

Why do people act like Gamboa is some sort of mental defect?

There's no way in hell he fights a guy like Linares like he did Jiminez. He'll have his hands up at all times against Linares, especially since Jorge is a class above Darling.

It infuriates me when guys act like Gamboa would go against Manny Pac with his hands down and his chin all out and available. It's knowing your opponent.

Gamboa has at most average power, sure with his speed he can get a decision (just typical of fighters like him).

Point 1. He aint knocking Linares out

Point 2. Linares will stalk him all night and however slower he maybe compared to Gamboa, he is adequate technically and throws straight punches. Hes got adequate power as well

Point 3. Gamboa relies too much on reflexes...thats fine and dandy agiants cab drivers. He wont get away with that against Jorge

Now weighing all these points..I d favor Linares..this guy is still young but has been in tough tough matches at the pro level

 

Definitely a very good match-up though I'd pick Jorge Linares on this one.

Yuriorkis Gamboa hasn't got the Boxing skill thats Jorge Linares posses, yes he has a punch but Jorge also has the ability to knock out people with one single shot. Jorge has more experience, more ko's on his record and fought the better quality of fighters, Linares also has clearly the better defense. Jorge Linares would work Gamboa down each round and win on a late stoppage.

 

Gamboa would dominate Linares. I don't honestly see this fight as being close in really any way. It's mind-boggling that people do.
